HMS Blandford 1:48 POF Modelship Dockyard [COMPLETED BUILD]

Hello Ken!! Of course, I’m late with congratulations on your birthday, but I can’t help but congratulate you on your birthday and wish you good health and strength so that you can create such beautiful models! And they created such interesting build logs! Very interesting to read, and educational... a lot of new things to learn. I wish you good luck, strength and health!!Birthday-Cake

Hello Ken,
I am remiss and haven't payed much attention to this web site lately. I missed your Birthday Day anniversary in March. Accept my much belated wishes.

Good evening Ken,
I am thankful that you logged this build because without it I would be more lost that I usually am. I'm trying to assemble the capstan and I've been able to find most of the pieces except parts A2-11 and A2-12. The "instructions" refer to "formwork". What is formwork? Additionally what the are the numbers for the small platforms on which the upper and lower parts of the capstan sit? Also your note about placing the lower part of captan assembly in the lower deck is helpful.
I've also looked at the components for the tiller and having trouble finding them too. Perhaps I'll get a better idea as I review further in you log.
As always I am grateful for your guidance.
Craig

Hi Craig. Like yourself I found that identifying the parts and following the instructions a bit of a nightmare. Once I’d figured it out it made more sense, seeing it in my log it probably looked easy but it really wasn’t. You’re not alone in finding the build difficult. I’m sorry that I can’t help you with identifying the pieces as it is now a while since the build, but stick with it, make your version and good luck with it.

Just remembered, that small square base, I ended up making it from scrap, the size wasn’t important.

Good morning Ken,
I did find the part A-12 and A-11. I also resolved the issue of the platform on which to put the capstan. I have not finished the upper deck assembly yet but I want to install the chain pump and the capstan in the lower deck so that I don't have the issue you had. It was happenstance that I contacted you now before going too far. So now I'll finish the chain up and paint both capstan and pump. After looking at you log I'll also assemble and paint the mortar. I'll look to see if there are any other parts that need red.
It's Father's Day here in the states - I seem to remember that Mother's Day was celebrated when I was over there but I don't remember if Father's Day was as well. If so and if you're a father then I wish you a Happy Father's Day!
Respectfully, Craig
