HMS ENTERPRISE by Keith 1:48 scale. New Kit from M.D.

Moving on now to the first of the deck timbers. This is the fore platform or orlop deck. It is built directly over the plan provided. It has to be built upside down on the plan as the frame, cross beams and carlings are all different thicknesses, and this way ensures they all line up on the upper surface. I am now back to doing what I love

She continues to be one of the best builds at SoS. If you have built other kit brand ship models, how does the MD compare based on your own experience?

Thank you Allan. This HMS Enterprise will be the 4th PoF kit I have built, and the 2nd M.D. kit. including CAF Models HMS Granado and Trident Models HMS Alert. All have been exceptional quality in materials and accuracy. If you ask me to rate the best kits, I would say M.D.'s Blandford and Enterprise would top the list. The after sales service of all these manufacturers is excellent too

Glad to hear your input. Thank you kindly. From following the build logs here there seems to be no comparison with the poor quality old guard kits compared to the high quality in the ones you have chosen. Based on your log and others building these highest quality kits I will not be surprised if they eventually lead the market when folks see how good they are compared to most of the others.

Completely agree Allen. The ''old scool'' kit manufacturers, churning out the same subjects decade after decade will get totally left behind by these Chinese high end kits if they don't try something new. Although to be fair, the types of wood necessary to work these kits, i.e. pearwood and cherry may not be so readily available in Europe
