HMS ENTERPRISE by Keith 1:48 scale. New Kit from M.D.

I have decided to use my favorite wood finish, Clou, at this point. Bit by bit as it would be very difficult to do with all the detail going in. I find it really brings out the colour of the pear wood and being spirit based does not prevent the adhesion of the glue too much. Next is the after orlop deck and cabins

That is looking very nice, Keith. The color of the Pear wood comes out very well with the Clou. In. U e contrast with the floor.

That is looking beautiful, Keith!!!

I'm realising right now how much the aft platform and its intricate and beautifil layout is buried under bulkheads and transoms. A hell of a great job, btw!
Thank you very much Albert. You're right. Most of the detail of these lower decks will be buried under the upper deck beams etc., but some will still be visable. It's all part of the joy of the build :)

Hi Keef,
I am just now catching up on this build - I know, where have I been ? Well, you are doing an outstanding job on this - very impressive. I was looking at this model on DDM and Parts myself. So, please let me know if you are working on this every day, and how many hours a day you are working on it.
You must be putting in a lot of time per day on this to have progressed this far.

Hi Donnie. Thank you for your comments and interest in my log. I am delighted that you may be thinking about this kit yourself. I can tell you you will not be disappointed. I believe you are quite an accomplished modeler yourself and I can honestly say this is the best kit I have ever attempted. So far I have been on this journey 14 months, starting in March 2025. As I am in the privileged position of being retired, I am able to spend as much time in my workshop as I like and do work on this project most days. Although, due to a health problem, had to take a month or two off earlier this year, but am pleased to say I am back in full swing again now, probably spending 3 to 5 hours at a time in the workshop. If you do decide to go for it, I wish you all the best and will be more than willing to talk over any details with you

The platform deck is now finished and so it is now on to the bulkheads making up the cabins for this part of the ship. Also, as with the fore orlop deck, the areas that will be impossible to reach with the parts in place are first treated with a coat of Clou
