Hey folks,
Now that I've finished the first little tiny boat, I'm starting on the second dinghy, the Launch. I learned a lot while building the pinnace, namely how not to do it. Now I'm building it according to my own idea and am excited to see how it will turn out.
I'm going to build the pinnace differently. I've decided not to build the scaffolding first. I'm starting by gluing the frames directly onto the plate (Launch 45).
This means that half of the frames will be inserted up to frame 9. Then I will slide the W4 ship's bottom under the inserted planks, but will not glue them in place for the time being. Now I will insert the remaining frames. I have noticed that the planks can be easily attached to the W3 frame.
You're probably wondering why I'm taking this step. I broke three frames just attaching them to the keel. The alignment wasn't precise, and I sometimes placed the frames in the wrong keel markings. Just getting them aligned took me a lot of time and nerves. I also hope that I can make nicer glue joints and that I won't have too many glue drops due to poor visibility, which would ruin the whole frame. Take a look at the pictures.
