Hello Shuttlebuggy, she is not the Mayflower, she is the Santa Maria, as for bending the cap rail, that was a pain in the butt, lots of soaking and slow heat bending, just a little bit at the time and soaking again than bending again.

A real good looking start with your model, and I am happy for you, that the frame cutting (as I know by hand) had finaly an end.

Thanks Uwe,although the frame cutting is done I have more cutting ahead like,stern plate,stern framing ,upper deck framing etc.
So it is not getting boring my friend......maybe a scroll saw like Proxxon DSH, Hegner or Pegas could help......

Hello Uwe, I have a scroll saw, bought it a month ago, I just need to practice on it, I keep breaking the blades, never used one before, for now, my handsaw much more accurate since I have used them since age 6 or 7.

Hello everyone,I am working on a very interesting part of the ship, the stern, not an easy task to frame but I am enjoying it. Mike created a timber set for the stern.
so here are the templates, I just made a little angle correction, then cut them out and sanded the rough edges.
Also, Mike created a wing transom plan what will be glued to bulkhead #14 and will hold the stern timbers in place.

Very good progress on one of the complicate parts of such a ship.
And we can see, that today you had the chance to work some hours on your model, sharing with us in time your different working steps.
One small question refering your stern timbers...did you use a sort of plywood or is it solid timber?
Due to the fact, that you cut the timbers in one piece, isn´t there the possibility, that they breack in the direction of the grain, biggest problem is maybe at the center.
So if they are no plywood be careful.....I made a red arrow at the area where I think they could break if there comes some sudden force from the side.

Hello Uwe ,the stern timbers are 4 mm thick walnut ,very sturdy and solid,I have tried to put some pressure on it to brake where you marked it but no success.
The stern plate will be glued to the stern timbers, so no problem .Thanks for your input.
Ahoy shipmates, I was playing with the false lower gun deck, so I have transferred the patterns and than had fun with my hand saw a bit, also did a little dry fit too.
