Believe me, that is one of the more plainer rooms

I actually got some work done during Christmas family chaos. The 22 carriages for the upper gun deck had eyebolts and rings installed for the breech lines and gun tackles.

I tried using some black panel liner to stain a carriage and bring out some details.

Which looks better, the stained carriage or the one which is just painted?

Will do.The stained one Kurt, but I would try some of the brown panel liner on the wheels and axles to tone those down as well
If you have already done this, maybe a wash of dark brown acrylic on them
Thanks HH, Nigel, and Roger. The feedback is what helps a builder make a better model, and is especially helpful for someone like me who is delving into the details for the first time for so many steps.Staining the carriages does a world of good. They look great, Kurt!
Thanks Dan! It's the little details in painting and weathering that I need the most practice in.I'm glad you chose the stain; it adds real character and will look right in place on your ships deck.
. Good morning Kurt. I hope guys had a magic Christmas. That is funny. I think you should go for it. Cheers GrantYou think I should go THIS far doing the interior stern cabin?

Hey! you've done a good job so far. Stick with it, be patient and go lightlyToday the barrels which were previously stripped of paint were prepared for another attempt at painting them by priming them with black paint using the airbrush.

After viewing some airbrushing videos on YouTube recommended by @ConsNZ to learn a few basics, it was time to try out what I learned.

The bright yellow light shows that the detail was not blurred by the black primer. I'd call this experiment a success so far.

Here is the metallic copper paint that will be used for the next stage in painting these barrels. Hope I don't screw up. The gold will be tried on decorative carvings later.

And may I add, you have the same brand spray booth as I have.Hey! you've done a good job so far. Stick with it, be patient and go lightly
But... they're black, not bronze.I would call it an unqualified success. If those were my cannons, I would stick them in the ship and be done with it.
