If you're ok with the wheel dials, great, but for me and my eyesight, I found the DRO (Digital Read Out) an incredible option. Have fun with them.

Yes. I am OK with hand wheels. They are resettable to zero by the way. For type of work I do for wood ship modelling it is more than enough. But I was able to make even something more. I made a mini steady rest with intension to use it for masts, which I probably will never use.

I just finished these blocks. They are 7.34 mm high as required for main a fore stays. See picture below.

I was awfully surprised to see that same type and almost same appearance of above blocks got available today at this place. Looks like we are following each other steps.

Nevertheless I continue scratch building every item I am able to as it amuses me. I am happy when I am challenged to resolve problems.

Here is how open heart blocks are made. This is a smaller 4.8 mm tall one.

Do these look enough convincing? These are top mast shrouds called I think. I can’t continue the work till feel good about it.

I may have just answered my question about the deadeyes in looking back at your very first post. This is the same model I built and am using it and the plans to complete the cross-section model I am currently working on. I don't like the ones supplied with the Corel kit so I'm looking for aftermarket ones (Cornwall Models and Dry Dock are both out of stock) or scratch building them.

All are different sizes as per drawings. Here we have the main stay and preventer stay ropes for fore mast and main mast.

These are very nice. I am working on a way to simulate these four stays for my cross-section, I first tried wrapping 1mm cord around a "Gorilla Glue" coated #18 gauge wire after making an eye splice in the end of the cord. This did not hold up although it could have worked. I am going to try this again but using a different material instead of the #18 wire. I will also forgo the eye splice as it is not worth the frustration. Good luck when you start to snake these stays after you install them.
