BACK IN 2015.... Let's see if I can get this post in before @Clair G gets back

The practicum describes the installation of the 3D printed window frames as "They should fit just right". I think that's an understatement as you can see from the photo. I only had to make very, very tiny adjustments and they snuggled right in. I allowed some fine CA to run into the fit. Later, I cut some clear plastic "glass" for each window and secure it with diluted Weldbond. Looks pretty good to me... I also reached the milestone of having all remaining of the 600+ CNC parts removed from their billets and cleaned up. .. Is that light I see down that long tunnel?

Just to elaborate, brotha is used as a term of endearment or to say "buddy" in a homey type setting. ie: Brotha from anotha motha. American slang, you gotta love it. lol

BACK IN 2015...

The kit includes these interesting looking seahorse figures as part of the base. I was a bit skeptical about how it would hold the model but surprisingly it seems to work quite well. You will also see in the picture that I added 2 additional quarter deck planks. This is to accommodate the footprint of the ship's binnacle. Well, if I'm building the base, I must be getting near the end ...

I asked a friend if he could guess what these are. He replied "doggie treats?".


I centered the ship on the base and squared it up with machine blocks and a bubble level. I then positioned and glued the seahorses in place. Worked perfect.


The ship rests on the seahorse's backs. I stained the base with Golden Oak for some contrast. I will also put several layers of poly

Nope... Seahorses... LOL.... As @Dave Stevens (Lumberyard) explained, hippocamps would have front legs like an actual horse.

Mike, it appears from your photo the the starboard side of the transom is further aft than the port side. Is it just a perspective issue?

I see your perspective... LOL... It is just a trick of the eye since the starboard side of the model has bulwarks and is more finished than the port side. It does look odd though in the photo!!
