This kit has thrown more obstacles at me than any other kit and then I go and add to my troubles by not paying attention. I seem to have a knack for running onto sandbars and waiting for high tides to lift me off.Seems like a fairly significant ‘omission’ by the kit manufacturer. I appreciate that you are trying to get it right.
You and me both, Brother. Love your work, to which I can only aspire.I seem to have a knack for running onto sandbars and waiting for high tides to lift me off.![]()
Hello Rob, I do not know what province or area in China this kit came from. I do know it was produced by Yuanqing Models, same manufacture as The Blue Nose.Is this the Shicheng Xebec or the Luhaikingkong version?
I do remember your cautions. I appreiate your encouragement, thank you!Way to hang in there Daniel - keep going !
You may remember I gave up on this build because I found the inconsistencies between the kit and the monograph too frustrating. (not too mention the warped keel !)
Thank you for your kind words Namabiiru. You and me both, Brother. Love your work, to which I can only aspire.
Ah, okay, you have the Yuanqing one. There are three other companies who make a 1/48th POF Requin; Shicheng, Luhaiqingkong, and CAF Model.Hello Rob, I do not know what province or area in China this kit came from. I do know it was produced by Yuanqing Models, same manufacture as The Blue Nose.
Where did you get the names Shicheng or Luhaikingkong?
I suppose you live in the USA, and you received the package from ChinaHello Rob, I do not know what province or area in China this kit came from. I do know it was produced by Yuanqing Models, same manufacture as The Blue Nose.

Hey Rob, I was looking up my old invoice on this ship and discovered this.Is this the Shicheng Xebec or the Luhaikingkong version?
Hello nongri, looking at my old invoice for this ship, there is one line item for shipping, handling, discounts, & taxes. In my case $139.50 US Dollars. This was back on March 5, 2025, so I don't think the tariff wars were fully underway then, (I'm not sure).I suppose you live in the USA, and you received the package from China
what about taxes ? did you pay when you bought it or did you pay american customs with DHL, UPS ...
I ask because I live in Thailand and taxes are much cheaper when I pay when buying that if I pay Thai taxes and courrier
thank you
Hi Peter, I'm afraid you have placed me in with the advanced gifted and talented group by mistake. I'm still trying to find all my marbles. Ha! I sure thank you for your generous complimint though.Daniel, you, Peter V. and Paul "Doc" Attner really put the "wright" in model shipwright!
Applied skills I'm in awe of![]()

Let's hope not. Model Crown World on ebay says they are not the same and the Yuanqing kit is inferior to the LHKK one. I'm happy you got the better one.Hey Rob, I was looking up my old invoice on this ship and discovered this.
LE REQUIN 1750 (Brand:Luhaiqingkong)...
Qty: 1
This is interesting because in my log #68 @Jackie Wolf says Luhaikingkong and Yuanqing Models are one in the same.

I appreciate the information Jackie, it explains a lot. I did wonder what the connection between ZHL (the supplier I purchased this kit from), the manufacturer (which I thought was YQ), and ANCRE's plates were. ANCRE post an "All Rights Reserved for Complete or in Part Reproduction for All Countries".Hi folks,
Here is the story:
YQ, based in Shandong Province, China, began their business around 2008 by producing replica old Billings kits. That is the reason why the brand is banned at Model ship world. the MSW. The YQ team established a new brand around 2015, Luhaiqingkong, targeting the premium market. They began developing original designed kits. However, they were later boycotted by MSW because they were accused of referencing (not replica) ANCRE’s Zebec blueprints in their kit design without obtaining approval, same reason for banning Shicheng.
As far as I know, many manufacturers do try to respect copyright, but the holders of knowledge often demand unreasonably high prices. I do not intend to deny the effort and contribution of those parties, yet greed will ultimately hinder the spread of knowledge and the growth of this niche hobby. In other words, it prevents players from accessing well-made kits at reasonable prices.
