L'Orenoque Mamoli 1:100 scale

Awesome! I look forward to seeing some pics! I get why you might be distracted :p

Enjoy!

Blessings.

Here you go,Chuck, a dry mount of the bits i've done so far. She is baroque as can be and very colourful as you can see ( the blue is deeper in reality, all the blocks will be red). I'm working on masts and railings, but i have to make 32 oars and benches sometime soon and i think i will have to change my usual assembly order because of such a busy forecastle and decks.20260322_170607.jpg20260322_170655.jpg20260322_170831.jpg20260322_170723.jpg

Martin! Thank you for sharing these pics! Just splendid! Your work on the stern is particularly outstanding. Did you do the carving? Wow! What scale are you working in?

Blessings.

What ho, shimates!

Spring break this week! You know what that means :p

At this point I am working to make sure that I have all of the attachments points on the deck, hull and channels. So far I have made about 100 eyes lest than 1mm in diameter for the wonderful tiny hooks I sourced from Drydock. I have been working from forward aft. Back in September, I also sourced delecate brasss belaying pins and cleats from BlueJacket. Now I need them because I want to get the pin rails in and the cleats - point is to make sure I'm not trying to drill tiny holes after I start putting the railings in forward and after I permanently attach the sponsons.

I spent about 3 hours this weekend looking for the pins and cleats. Can't find them:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: so yesterday I spent another $150 and I hope Bluejacket will get the new pins and cleats to me before the end of the week:rolleyes:

All's not lost - I have some belaying pins left over from Harriet Lane:) and I can atleast set up fore bits on the forecastle for the head rigging. I also have a couple of cleats leftover from HarrietLane. ALSO I have been mounting the wonderful guns from @JerryTodd Marvelous Miniture Munitions. As you'll see, I went with a brown paint - actually "Rust" from Testors. I think it works well with the wood tones I'm using for color on this build. It will probably take all day to get the rest of the guns mounted.

Then I will probably work on the forward ladders and railings:D. Wish me luck!

That’s a nicely scaled rigging on the guns, Chick. Spring does give new energy!

Well you've really impressed me there ! Excellent clean work at this scale. I can see those are not Mamoli blocks ROTF
No carving on the Amphion , this project started out from an EBay fishing trip that netted a load of old Corel bling for a measly 30 bucks with a box of cordage, blocks and fittings.Set-decorations-pour-Amphion.jpg

I used some on my galeon and then tracked down the original kit, which was a horrible version of the Royal Caroline renamed Amphion.21323_02.jpg hd_item_2385630_93763f2c4c.jpg

Corel can be more fantasy than the Mamoli Orenoque sometimes:rolleyes:!

I went looking for plans and discovered the real Amphion .
SCALE.jpg Sold. I had no rib section plans till i realised they were on the cover of Mondfelds"Scale Models"

RIBS SCALED 3.jpg
So for the poop i cut the rear metal plaque up into three pieces, trimmed what didn't fit out, and drilled and pegged a cherub's face cut from some other bit of trailing bling into the centre. it's not exact , but pretty close. the other bits are made from some standard Corel 3mm impressed brass deco roll, filed to size and shape. i will send you a piccy when i have fitted the rest of the deco, there is still an awful lot to be made and added to both the rear and the sides of the deck platform.

Martin! Thank you! No Mamoli blocks - DryDock - they are getting all of my shipyard finances. As I thought again about the scale, I have a bunch of blocks that are too big for L'Orenoque and will have to make another massive order and pay a massive tariff for the privilege:eek::eek::eek:

So cool! zu Mondfeld to the rescue! I really enjoy the creativity and ingenuity, Martin! I look forward to seeing more pics!

Blessings. Peace. Gratitude.

Wow! Those fighting stations look wonderful! Are you sure the missing cleats and pins aren’t in the container of goodies you so generously sent me? They’ve been packed up and moved, but I can try to dig them out if they might be in there.

Namabiiru! Thank you!

I'm positive I did not send the missing cleats and pins to you. The disappearance has more to do with how carefully I store tiny parts. Or, perhaps, it's the old story of the clothes dryer that eats socks from time to time ROTF

What ho, shipmates!

All the guns are aboard - I still need to make 20 rope coils to complete the job. In the meantime, I made forebits and set up belaying pins for the head sails, jin inhaul and outhaul. Paul, here's the green. Just for you friend:cool: (these pics only the first coat of paint - the green is much deeper like the wheels after a light sanding and second coat). The little silver man is the 1st Lieutenant (1:96 scale). He's a little taller than the rest, but gives a good idea of scale.

What ho, shipmates!

Well, I started the iron work last night! I decided to experiment and I am VERY pleased. The joints are very well bonded. I just need to remember to thoroghly clean the brass before assembly.

I watched a couple of YouTubes and "discovered" solder and flux in a syringe. One of the videos showed railings being made on a piece of scrap wood a bit at a time. I decided to copy that method ofr this trial. The syringe solder is no joke - just the smallest dab from the end of a toothpick did the trick. I didn't think to prepare the brass for blackening - I didn't think my first experiment would be so successful - no amount of cleaning after assembly allowed the brass to blacken. So excited:D The last pic shows the experiment aboard - I was surprised by how strong the joints were - I could simply move the two ends in opposite directions with my fingers to achieve the proper slope to follow the curve of the caprail as it lowers going aft. The final version I will set the correct angles and solder the posts and railings so I won't need to bend the finished product.

Pic 1 red arrows show the placement of the posts - 10mm apart based on the railings shown on the poo deck of the original L'Orenoque plans. Blue arrows shou the rails - 5/16ths high. I added a middle rail for safety. I may go without the lower rail. The brass is held down with standard masking tape.
