So, to our business.

• I finished rigging the shrouds to the ship.



•I Started to make the topmasts and topgallants



• I made triple blocks, for the fore and main masts for the fore and main yards , instead of connecting one single and one double blocks as OcCre suggested in the drawings



• I made ropes for the stays of the three masts .

• And lastly i made corrections for the caps from British to Continental (only for the fore main and mizzenmast, the caps of the tops will remain the same) ,work in progress .


Now it's time to start finish the masts.

You might have a bit of trouble tying deadeyes at different heights. Using a template for next time might help, deadeye always sets at same height.

Yeah, it's something i need to work on, especially with my ropes tension.
I did used some template but it didn't quite worked as planned

Not all, its fine, but might be better.
You'll see a problem on the first line of ratlines. It won't be level, so you'll have to adjust the heights somehow to make the first line look nice.
On Spanish ships, the ratlines began at various heights. Some were already at the dedeye's sling, others just above the sling, and still others were one higher, with a gap more than twice the height. Why, I don't know.
Here still it's okay, you just have to think a little about how to solve it. It's almost correct. I did both variants myself.

Great, great. They're semi-automatic, even fully automatic. You have to deal with it, very helpful.

I have found that looking in jewelry section of hobby shops often yields some nice small bending and beading tools for ship building.

Thank you it will be most helpful, currently I fixed it a little bit, but it will be great for the next time, currently I'm past the ratlines, and I'm working on the rigging of the Bowsprit.

Hello everyone,
Long time past from my last update so let's begin with my birthday present that arrived last Thursday in a month late


And to our real business
I finished al the shrouds rigging and the ratlines rigging .

For rigging i cust made minor changes.

Currently I'm working with the plans of OcCre but i recently received this great book for dipper understanding of the rigging although it's for British ships of the line.

Great catch Guy. Martingale booms (dolphin strikers) came into use in Spain about 1790 so OcCre should have seen this in their research of a ship launched after that date.

And it all began with the length of the royal stay that they said to cut and the illustration of the actual rigging that raised my suspicion, and from here i had to do small research and it only took me about few days until i had the confirmation that the Montañés had martingale boom.
I don't know why it was hard to OcCre to research this...

My wife asked me what i wanted for my birthday, and i said nothing. And you know what she got me? Nothing... Tactical mistake, LOL.

I compare this pain to your ratlines, it's the same feeling. You know you have to keep tying them until you get to the end, where you'll get something better again to do... next year.
