My 1/72 scale aircraft

Dean62 · Tuesday at 11:31 PM

Next up is going to be either …

Tough decision, I like them both and I have so many to build that it’s hard to choose one. I may lean towards the Harrier because it’s a unique jet with a big history, and I want it on the shelf sooner than later.

Hi Dean,

The Harrier is a very cool subject, but I love the Tigershark too. Like you said, I think I would do the Harrier first just because it is unique.

I like the way you think Bill.

Aircraft 99 is going to be the Harrier AV-8A.
Work has begun…

Progress update…been a lot of work to get this far. With the thrust nozzles, deflector plates, housings, and inlets, there is a specific order they have to go on. Luckily I took the time to examine it and test fit prior to gluing.
A few pics…

With the wings off, it kind of looks like a fish…lol

Quick update…time to start painting the camo…

Dean62 · 2026-10-03T00:33:06-0500

Painted the camo…next is decals and clear coat. There are 25 or more decals per side on the fuselage and around 20 on the top. So probably 70-80 decals. You don’t realize by looking at the finished model how many decals are on them. Some aircraft don’t have many.

Decals…

To keep track of what I have put on, I highlight the decal numbers (70 so far). That way I don’t miss any. I did the sides and top. The bottom will be done when I do the next step, landing gear, etc.

It's looking great.

Thanks, it’s definitely labor intensive! But it sure makes the model look realistic. Unfortunately some of them have light silvering, despite the fact I used microsol and microset for decals.

Harrier AV-8A is finished!

I put all of the decals on the bottom side, added the landing gear, gear doors, two outboard pylons with launchers, and built two sidewinder missiles to add.

Then it was time for final touch up.

On the shelf…

I now have 21 jets built! When I started this build log I only had 8 built.

Next up will be aircraft 100…
