Beautiful and elegant model!
Thank you for your kind words, very much appreciated, as Daniel @Daniel20 has already said, these are pretty much the most difficult jobs in modeling, I think working with wood is one thing, working with fabric is a completely different story.Tobias, even if I managed to sew more or less tolerable sails, then all the more you can get a decent result, I’m sure of it. Why, I suspect that with your care and precision, your future sails will be much better than mine, which, by the way, are far from ideal - for example, pay attention to the luff of each sail - despite my efforts, they turned out poorly.
Thanks for the congratulationsHello Dave,
congratulations on this beautiful model, you did a great job and I hope to see a new project from you soon.

At least you have been doing better than me as I have not started due to being away and also other things that clog up our lives keep on happening but with calmer weather and good winds ( with a bit of Luck) I will get going. One thing I admire is how you went about casting your canons but for the model I am going to build, I will use a metal lathe to make the barrel and see what happens from there. Must add before I do that I need to make up the lathe properly to carry out the process as the lathe is nearly a hundred years old and I am getting it into order to use.Due to some reasons I don't think it will happen soon. Although anything is possible . In any case, if I start a new build, I will definitely make a log on SoS.
Thanks Gary. To be honest, I don't like my guns very much. They had flaking and were too soft since I cast them out of lead. Also, when I painted them, they had a strong sheen that I didn't like either. The cool craftsmen in our hobby use silver and blacken it chemically to cast cannons, but I haven't gotten to that level yet . Perhaps turned cannons have an advantage over cast ones, if only because you can use a metal that is easy to blacken - brass or steel. But please be careful when working with these centuries old antiques. At least you have been doing better than me as I have not started due to being away and also other things that clog up our lives keep on happening but with calmer weather and good winds ( with a bit of Luck) I will get going. I have only done one model of boat design from a kit, but I will challenge myself to build a model from scratch and make my own material base also. This site is very good to collect ideas from and magnificent modellers grace her.
No Worries Dave and may your hobby-making take you to extremities you can imagine. Thanks Gary. To be honest, I don't like my guns very much. Good luck with your construction and again, be careful!
All the best!
