My first model - caravel "La Niña" 1:72 scratch [COMPLETED BUILD]

Way to go Dave. Lovely sails. I agree the stain came out perfectly and will look so good on your ship. Cheers Grant
Thanks Grant, I like these sails too :)

Parrels and flags. It would be best to make the flags from fabric, but I don’t have that option yet, so I chose the simple option and made them from paper. Perhaps I will replace them with more suitable ones later.IMG_20240729_172835.jpgIMG_20240729_172940.jpgBy the way, I will hang the yards as shown in this diagram1238001908.0.269404001238001908.jpg

Thank you very much Jim!

Jim, I'm afraid I don't yet have the opportunity to take high-quality photographs on a plain background. I plan to go to an open area where there is a lot of natural light. If you don’t mind, I’ll post the photos in this log, and let the gallery wait for the photos on the photo background (if I ever take them).

Hello, Dave. Frankly speaking, high-quality photos are not a requirement. You can take photos with the same camera\phone as you did for the build log. The only requirement is to have a plain background of your choice: white, black, or other colors of your choice. You can post your images here

Good luck!

Congratulations Dave! I have enjoyed your build, anything next on your wish to build list?
Thanks Daniel! I have an old idea to build the entire Columbus squadron, these are two more ships - the caravel Pinta and the Nao Santa Maria. I would start with Pinta and build it according to the drawings that the author of this model usedDSC_3044.JPGDSC_3048.JPGRecently I had a crazy thought in my head: shouldn’t I build something on a scale of 1:250? For example, Santa Maria in this scale will be a little more than 10 centimeters in length. I don't know if I can decide to do this. A modeler from Odessa is currently making a model of Grenado in this scale - he’s doing a good jobScreenshot_2024-08-03-00-18-53-340_com.miui.gallery.jpgScreenshot_2024-08-03-00-20-05-001_com.miui.gallery.jpgScreenshot_2024-08-03-00-19-20-765_com.miui.gallery.jpg

Uwe and Grant thank you very much for your congratulations and kind words :)

All of them are great images for the gallery! Congratulations again, I am very proud that youngsters like you are our forum members. We strive to make scale models a hobby adopted by youngsters.

In my old country (USSR, which doesn't exist anymore), scale models hobby was trendy among teenagers, I built my first model when I was 8 years old. ;)
