NORSKE LOVE - Billing Boats 1:75 scale

Where do you find bloodwood, the forests of Mordor?
I used to make chess boards and I used it for the darker pieces. I bought it from Woodcrafters many years ago. I used to get Bloodwood, Oak, Maple, Zebrawood, etc to make boards. No exotic travel required! ROTF However you can go to Brazil to get some if you like to travel. ;)IMG_0264.jpeg

Today I went to Daniel’s house and we cut Pearwood and Bloodwood into 5mm board widths to be used on ship models.
I looked at his models in his work room, the Wright aircraft, B-17, P-51D and his ship models. And I saw his Wasa on display in his front room. Beautiful ship and excellent rope work. His current build is looking good as well.
We enjoyed visiting, talking shop and getting boards cut. I got some Decal paper from him and I gave him a P-51D Mustang model in 1/48 scale.

Pearwood up top and bloodwood below that. I also have some miscellaneous pieces and larger pieces for carvings.
In conclusion it was nice to visit with Daniel and get some wood cut to be used in the future. I will definitely be using some for the railings of the NL.
We had a great time today cutting wood strips, discussing modeling techniques. Dean gave me some of the bloodwood strips from our last get-together which I plan on incorporating into my Zebec. Thanks again Dean!

It’s always nice to meet a fellow SoS-member and share the pictures, Dean and Daniel. Thanks for sharing!
