Get well soon, RichieUnfortunately an injury has still stopped any more progress, hopefully will be able get building again soon as the rigging awaits me.
However I have been able to see the progress of other logs on this forum which has given me motivation to start again as soon as I am able.
Thank you.I read this just now, get well soon
Well Richie, we can certainly help allay your fears of rigging with some helpful advice, but we can't stop you from throwing yourself down any more flights of stairs. Sorry dood.![]()
Thank you Heinrich, learning off those who have been before me.Of course we want to see each and every update - now matter how small. It is great to se you return to the Revenge and make no mistake - the preliminary work you are doing now, is no less important than any other part of the build.
Thank you very much Kirill, doing ok now.Dear Richie,
Wishing you a quick recovery and looking forward your rigging progress.
All the best!!!
Kirill
Thank you Steel66, the rigging work on your Spanish Galleon is amazing and something to aspire too.Rigging these ships is a wonderfull job to do. A lot of crowfeet on many place to make. I use the book of Peter Kirsch, Die galeonen (the gallions) there is a rigging plan in the book. He made the rigging plan of this ship with the help of RC Anderson.
Experienced or not Paul your work is superb so happy to have your feedback, thank you. While I am hardly an experienced builder I would affirm your thinking in several places.
First, not making your own ropes. While that has been a marvelous learning experience for me and in many ways I'm glad I made my own ropes I think on future builds I will just buy rope. They are several vendors who make an exceptional product and while it's more expensive to purchase ropes the time-value makes it a good choice.
Second, simplifying the rope sizes. On my Vasa I am using about a dozen sizes of rope (not counting my stays which are larger but needed in only short lengths). I believe you can accomplish all of your rigging goals with 10 -15 ropes - maybe even less.
The upgraded deadeyes was a proper decision - but now, what about blocks? Can you use the Occre kit parts? And have they supplied enough because I don't think you will be satisfied with two different kinds (or do they sell their own blocks aftermarket?). And with more varied rope sizes will you also need to correspondingly vary the block sizes? What a can of worms...![]()
