I got knobs and all that just was curious if those metal parts the scales were on were ordered from somewhere or made at home

Gunwales:
The gunwales are made from walnut and installed with rubber bands and clamps in the jig. This set of photos shows the installation and finished gunwales.

Gunwales (Note):
I used my trusty tea kettle to make the bends in the walnut gunwales. The old methods still work well and are enjoyable to use.

Poop Deck Rails:
The poop deck rails are made from walnut with a rectangle-shaped section. I used various clamps and rubber band combinations attaching them to the hull. This is progress photos showing the installation.

Futtock riders:
The futtock riders are made from walnut and installed as shown on the following photos.

Hi Brian,
Thanks, I like to use different colored woods because I have a problem with paint I get it all over even when I mask everything off so I avoid using it. I think natural wood colors look nicer than paint on a model anyway.

I agree that natural wood looks much better. I use paint to mask my poor workmanship so that I have something to show for my time. I am embarrassed to show my work after looking at the work some of you other guys do. But old ships and sailing are my hobby and I love it. I will stumble on. :text-lol:

Hi Mike,
I think you are overly critical of your work, everyone looks back on their work and sees things that could have been improved but if you try to make a perfect model it will be the only one you build and you may not live long enough to finish her. With time and practice you will get better.

The Rudder:

The Boomkin is shown as a spar associated with the mizzen mast attached to the quarter deck as shown in the photos. Ladders from the deck to the poop and forecastle decks are also added.

Although the book doesn’t show a belfry I toot the liberty of adding one. The following photos show the construction and assembly of the belfry.

I turned a liner out of walnut for the hawse holes. I could have used brass tubing but think this looks better.
