Purchased shortly ago / sthg new in your workshop -> present it here

Question Uwe, the monographs you present here at SOS, do you buy them for private ownership or are they lent to you by the authors ?.
A very straight forward question, you will get the answer in the same way:
More or less all books and monographs I am presenting here are bought by myself, also this one!

The postman was ringing once more - and he was sweaty

approximately 20 kg parcel from ancre - with this my "collection" of ancre publications is more or less complete

I am the next days on a business trip until the coming weekend, so I will open the parcel during weekend
-> so stay tuned and you will see soon, what is inside the parcel

Although I have posted this in my Saint Philippe log,I thought I would post here in case anyone else is interested.I have received Clarke's CMD 300 mill, collet set, cutters and step clamp set.I also bought the quick adjust vice to suit which is shown next to the Proxxon MF70's.I have discovered now that I need the mill chuck if I want the cutter to reach right down to the table. The travel is limited by a spring damper on the side. The chuck has been ordered today so should get that tomorrow.I milled a softwood block to use as a temporary pack in the meantime.
This mill is made by the same Chinese manufacturer as the Sieg X2 harbour freight mini mill etc and they are all identical bar minor details and standard of assembly.Best bit is there is a plethora of upgrades and additions available,I am thinking this could end up being a project in it's own right
Here are some of the upgrades available from different manufacturer's
X axis Power feed
Cnc conversion
X,Y and Z axis digital readouts
Digital speed display
2 Speed belt drive conversion to replace slightly noisy mechanical gearbox
Gas Damper for Z axis to replace spring damper supplied

As to how many of these I add only time will tell.I would say though that as I am so impressed with the general build and goodie options available, the next purchase will be Clarke's matching lathe

Kind Regards

Nigel

Difficult to beat Uwe´s exstacy to buy books. But I will try it with this little babe. :)
When i started with ship modelling two years ago, my goal was the british shipbuilding. But the destiny, far winds and following seas and my friend Herbert took me to the french shipbuilding. I don´t want to fight against it because the availibility of dcumentation is very good. It´s time to fill up my libary with contemporary books. The contemporary french documentation about shipbuilding is immens. This one i bought this reprint on ebay for 10 Euros. I just need to learn french now. Or i need to find a french girlfriend...

The French girlfriend is a good idea, but she may only want "Ooh la la!", might be better off looking for an English translation. On second thoughts go with the French girl, hahaha.

Mates is there an English translation for such a book? Generally, I am looking for a book to understand\read drafts\plans specifically ships. This is the major reason I am not building from scratch. :( Many thanks in advance...
