I like that idea. I have some sweeps and oars left over from Syren, same scale so I plan on reproducing those to get a full supply of both. Can you post pics of all three versions?
 
Pulled the trigger today and placed an order with the crafty sailor and going to try some master korabel parts, the 3 things I will be looking at is availability, ship times, and cost, so far there cost wins

I have been using falkonet's really like them bought some of Chucks had to stain them to match mainly for the fiddle blocks, went to model expo for some more falknoet OOS :mad: so found the crafty sailor and they carry Master Korabel so heres the breakdown so far

Take your time one thing on mine or I will give you a couple of pointers, 1) the ribs have a little cut in them put that at the bottom of the jig with the notch inboard, 2) when planking start at the bottom of the jig and go towards the keel, 3) start the planking from the bow and let run wild at the stern, 4) I had to trim the very last plank on mine and 5) get a big bottle of booze
Now I need your help,how important do you think it is to have all the deadeyes line up? I am thinking about redoing them for 2 reasons I am hanging the yards and they keep getting in the way and 2 with the level oft he deadeyes the level of the deadeyes isnt bad but kinda bugging me

Buggs me too. One of my early models drive me crazy but no one seems to notice. I love making jigs. I use one on my deadeyes so they come out even, usually. I have used staples between deadeye holes to keep them even, then rap the shroud around the mast and seize it. I leave the seize a little loose and slide it tight when the shroud is where I want it. Some people do this before they step the mast but I like to do it after. Thanks for the tips in the Russian kit. Should be interesting.

Oh I have the booze ready to go.

I'm pretty pedantic when it comes to the alignment of the deadeyes. I've redone more than my share of shrouds because i just won't accept deadeyes that are all zig-zig-zaggy. As long as you haven't started ratlining yet it's only a minor setback IMHO

It seems more and more that I wished I did more to the mast before mounting them, did the foremast jeer today would get 1 on the knock 3 off (to much coffee)IMG_0873.jpg
 
Great build coming along awesome! Just my opinion, but I would stay away from the Syren/Chuck stuff as his quality has gone way downhill and there are much better products out there now using higher technology fabrication. :)

I mainly use Falkonet blocks but was having a hard time finding 5mm doubles also Chuck had the fiddle blocks so I gave them a shot. Since the fiddle blocks you had to build up I did find they were a little off which I was able to sand to correct, for someone new I would just tell them to be REAL careful as the wood was real soft. This was my first time using his so I cant compare to the past, I am waiting on an order of Master Korabel blocks so I will let you know about them.
