Rigging the deadeyes at the shrouds

I was under the impression that standing rigging is black because the ropes are 'structural' and are tarred. The lanyards for the deadeyes are meant to be adjusted and so are natural rope and not tarred. I may be wrong

Always Black, as it was very seldom not taking down- month even years

How do you guys keep all the dead eye shrouds the same length do you use a jig if so what jig is a good one. Thanks John
