Hi mates,

A brief intro to a log that will, in detail, get started after I finish the Oseberg. I became super interested in this ship some years ago following Peter Voogt’s build log for this important American ship over at MSW - and, very recently just rediscovering his log again here - His work is amazing!! and scratch-built no less - lots of research --- KUDOS indeed
log link;

I also subscribe at EZ Model Building on youtube - saw the Amati opening the box video, and Edward Z’s edited build-log for this kit -- Yes, Excellent kit!!! - AND super nice build as well.
Edward’s excellent images of his build below;

SO decided -- yes!!! -- Purchased it at Age of Sail after linking from here first - I assume that in a small way it helps SofS….

So, a few personal thoughts, as well as LOTs of full-size images with notations within, and for some of ways that I hope to add extra details to an already excellent out-of-the-box kit - hope that it is interesting…

Cheers,

Hi John. It’s nice to see that you started this build-log of the famous Robt. E. Lee. :)
I feel humbly honored :rolleyes: that you mention my build of The Lee so prominently in your first post. I didn't keep a build log myself at the MSW, but someone there also built The Lee using Bates' drawings and had the necessary contact with me regarding details and modifications.
Do realize, however, that as a stubborn Dutchman, I 'bent the truth a little bit' while building my Lee. About halfway through, I switched from the original Lee to the 2nd. The Main Cabin with Skylight and the Pilot House are more lavishly decorated.
In any case, I will follow your build with great interest. It is certainly a model you can really let your creativity run wild with.
PS: This site —> Steamboats.com <—has a huge amount of Steamboat information as well as —> Steamboats.org. <—
Regards, Peter

Peter,
apology! I didn't keep a build log myself at the MSW, but someone there also built The Lee using Bates' drawings and had the necessary contact with me regarding details and modifications.

Hmmm - good thing I'm no longer working - my Admiral had said that after id left then onroute - I'd forget where I was supposed to go.

I thought that it was your log over there - nonetheless your work is brilliant. Thanks for your interest - this log should be started in hopefully a couple of months from now.

Thanks for the links - I know of only one of them....

Regards,
