Saint Philippe 1693 by OlegM

Hello. An Odessa ship modeler also made a hull this way. Only there the machine was many times larger and the ship was on a 1:36 scale.

So this is more or less what I got. Unlike on Royal William, I had to use some wood filler which I hate. Still debating with myself if this approach is better or not compared to one I used on William. Basically the choice of my this or that technology comes from the fact that on RW I laser cut my frames (they were 2x4mm), and here I milled them (1 layer 9mm). However good is the diode laser, it's not CO2, and laser cutting 6-9mm thickness is a pain in the ass. And the other problem is that I cannot get my milling machine to mill such big parts as these shells without errors, it's just not good enough. I have a stupid voice inside me telling me, ok, you tried, on the next model go back to how you built the RW, but I stubbornly don't want to listen to it. The time comes, we'll see...

I had some serious catching up to do. The amount of preparation you show us is exemplary. I love your boats and have learnt a lot again from going through your log. Excellent work.

Very interesting project with a great start, Oleg!
Your work so far has set high expectations. Your color scheme and aging look really good. I look forward to following your progress!
