San Bartolome kit No. 00132 Build.

Nice work, Neil! Catching up on this build. Gotta love those colorful clamps! The more the better! Following your progress here. Thumbs-Up

Nice work, Neil! I just ordered Pavel's paint set for my Santa Maria. I am horrible at airbrushing. Think I could achieve similar results by hand brushing?

Don’t think you could get the fineness and blends with brushes.
If I didn’t airbrush, I would opt for pastels. More control and easy to blend.
I did my Jaws Orca boat decks with them.

Hey Greg. Go buy a pack of pastel sticks. Cheap as chips anyway and have a play around with them. Hold them on their flat side and gently rub on the grain. You can also scrape them to make a powder and just rub that on. It’s limitless to what you can try. Different colours to change the look of wood grain texture.

Great recommendation, Neil! I will test them on sample wood pieces to see how they look. Appreciate your advice!

Three planks from 21 onwards are about 10mm too short for some reason. Plenty of length that could have been used from the sheet that they were lasered from.
Why not just over length them Pavel?
Still have to trim all the others anyway.
Have to scarf little extension pieces in there. Will show you on the next entry here.

I also had the same problem and had to put extensions. But it will not be the only time that you will have to improvise and use leftover wood, so I recommend that you do not throw anything away until you are finished.
