Looking good! I noticed you have built a box inside the planks for where deck fitting go, is this the approach people usually take?

Hi Gemma, I am not sure what you referring to exactly, can you pinpoint that out for me, please? Thanks.

After trimming down the overhanging deck planks and sanding the sides with the false decks instead of sanding I choose to scrape the decks.

The quarter and the forecastle deck not glued in yet just to take full-size pictures.

Quarterdeck bulkhead planking

First I did some comparison what wood should I use, on the picture below from left to right, two types of walnut, pear, and mahogany and decided to go with the first walnut from the left.

I also started to plank the inner bulwark and adding frame imitations, my mistake that first I glued the frames and cut the planks after, just made myself more work :(

I am so clumsy I forgot to post when I installed those two ugly plank replacement (side sheets) sheets what came with the kit.

I figured it out now Zoltan, so not to worry! I thought in some pictures you had built a box around the holes in the deck where the grills go. Looking again not sure that you have. I think on my model I need to so the gratings sit a bit higher and not on the deck planks.

Hi Zoltan, I think Gemma is refering to the hatchway where grating would usually go as they have a raised edge.

Regards
Eric

I guess I should have used a little bit wider planks but I make it through like this.
Edge bending was fine but I had to soak the planks otherwise, they just snapped.

I was playing around with the stern planking, but first I trimmed the overhanging side plates.

For planking the stern I am using 1X3mm walnut
