Looks better on black base, blacken or paint is better

If ou don't have it dark you end up putting too much of the 1st pigment to make sure you cover all the brass

And if nothing else, anything you apply will stick better to blackened brass

Or as ive tested later and done on the anchors

Apply something called rust texture from Vallejo, and work on top of that with the washes and pigment

Until now, I never saw, that one one ship the thickness / square of the bowsprit was reduced for the gammoning - wasn´t it normal, that the bowsprit was full size and the gammoning was around the complete
Such notches in the bowsprit would reduce the strength of the bowsprit very much

Was like that on the instructions, had no idea it shouldn't be like that

Was looking at more stuff I did, and usually just a wedge behind, no notch

Never crossed my mind but I guess you have a point

I want to, but it's depending if I can weather them Ina way that I like and think it fits the overall look

I'm cautiously optimistic

You could weather the sails by soaking in coffee. You could also have some torn sails from cannon ball damage.
