Santisima Trinidad Occre 1/90 scale

Good Sunday morning all, here a few pictures of the progress of the hull of my Santisima Trinidad, have also placed the last walesstrips just above the waterline, they are not completely finished yet, have a last bit and then a little paintwork but we have an idea where it goes.
And then I have a question for @Donnie, which diameter of drill bit you used to drill the holes in the cannonports (XIII CANNON PORT FRAME CONSTRUCTION), and how much did you need about (because they break pretty quickly)

Very neat planking DJ, I like the red/black colour scheme, it's different to the yellow/black "wasp" looking scheme you normally see,

thanks Andy, I try to do it as well as possible, it is not easy because the Sapelli is hard wood to bend I think, and there is only a layer of planking, but with my wood burner I bought in the Lidl succeed well, I am also someone who is rather quick with the work done but this should not be, although sometimes I also have a hard time with a hammer because I do not like it, the bottom of the hull I will do copper plates , I wanted to paint it white first but on the advice of Uwek to make it more historic with the copper plates, the red black color is something I've seen a lot on pictures of the Santisima trinidad, although nobody apparently knows how she was there in trafalgar
In the city of Alicante there is a replica of the Santisima, but I think it has nothing to do with how the ship actually was or would have been

Good morning Maarten, the copper plates are not included in the kit, I will make them myself with this or something similar as in this picture and will follow the techniq of Copper Plating

Hallo Willy,
it is good, that you realy investing in your hobby, material, tools and time for research - great.
I do not know, if there is a real "Bob Hunt"-method, he is showing in his tutorial several different ways which are used by modelers.
Important for the final appearance of the sheeting is to know where to start, in which direction working, difference of left and right side of hull etc.
And in my opinion it is important how, and I guess you want to make it, you make the nailing mattern on the different sheets. Ponce wheel is often used, but there are pros and cons, or with a stamp, also pros and cons.......I think you have to give it a try what will fit for you.
What ever you decide, the coppering of the hull for the ST will be bring you days of "fun" .....

good evening friends, here a small update of my ST the hull is almost ready as you can see in the picture, I also take out the nails and replace them with toothpicks, am also a bit busy to work on the guns for the upper deck , where there is a lot of work to paint the carts and the guns and the drilling of the holes for the eyebolds (photo), and in between I also have to put the new apartment in order of my Spanish admiral.

Hello everyone, the hull is finished and painted in a gray primer paint pending until I fix the copper plates (have the copper adhesive tape ordered in China have bought 2 rolls of 30 m and this for less than the price of 1 roll here in belgium and pay no shipping costs) hopefully this will be okay?
now that the hull is ready for now I can work a bit on and finish the main deck, as you can see on the pictures I started placing the guns, I have reached the boiling point a few times this afternoon but am still satisfied with what I have been able to do on the guns and start seeing where it should go

Do you have 2 layers of planking for the hull?Ik think That thereis not enough wood for it in the kit.

hallo Pat71, neen er is maar een laag beplankig op de hull, maar moet zeggen dat Occre wel genoeg hout voorziet , maar niet om de 2 lagen te doen .

yes zoly I also found weird, with a layer you have to build it right away otherwise you see too much the beginner's mistakes and it is sapeli of 2mmx5mm this I find quite a hard wood to work with, and there are rather short folds in the hull of the ST for my second construction this was certainly not easy, but I succeeded more or less, and I am thus again an experience richer.
I think Pat71 has the same problem with his hull of the Santisima

It is very good, that you see this as experience. Very often kit is such big vessels were started, but never finished, due to problems with the quality of timber and therefore not so good results, or even too much of boring and never ending works, like planking etc.

thanks Uwe i will finish the trinidad in the best way possible, because giving up is a word that does not exist in my bible, however difficult it may be and then I want to make a schratch based on a plan

hello Pat71 to your question in the forum if there is another easier way to the knots of the rat lines I have unfortunately no answer ready for you, I would say do it calmly and if you feel pain stop and start the next day again, do you do 2 or 3 lines per day does not matter, once it's ready Pat, do it quietly pat
I always remember the words of a former Spanish worker of mine "tranquillo Jefe si no acabamos hoy acabamos mañana"
