Soleil Royal by Artesania Latina

It's taken a while, but all the sails and rigging on the Soleil is completed.
Overall considering it's my first ship I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out. Was a pretty steep learning curve.
I'd give myself 6/10 so plenty of room for improvement on my next ship. Next time I'll get better quality ropes. Those supplied with the kit are pretty ordinary.
Next up all the cannons. FB_IMG_1716114787605.jpgFB_IMG_1716114804216.jpgFB_IMG_1716114832514.jpgFB_IMG_1716114856038.jpgFB_IMG_1716114867869.jpg

Good evening Greg. Way to go- looking grand. Cheers Grant

Thanks very much Bill . Still making all the gun port hatches for Soleil at the moment. A very time consuming job
It's interesting that you mentioned the time-consuming process. I have been working on the Heller version since 1976 when I received the kit as a Christmas gift from my parents. Granted, I served in the Navy for 24 years and travelled from the East Coast to Italy to Pearl Harbor. to Groton (CT) to Bangor (WA) back to Groton, back to Hawaii, then to San Francisco, then back to Groton, then to San Diego, finally, back to Groton. Work progressed very slowly with the constant travel and its associated packing and unpacking. But I have made slow but sure progress. I have retired and have made further progress. Le Soleil is now a work in progress.

You have certainly done a lot of travelling ! O may be wishing my life away but am looking forward to retirement so I can spend more time building ships.

THe anchors are looking very good - well done
only the knot with which the anchor ring was tight to the anchor cable was not done in this way
There were (as I know) two different types of knots used, related to the weight of anchor

This one is at the HMS Victory
