Thanks William . I might have to do that. It is a bit brightMy only suggestion is to tone down the yellow. You can find slightly darker colors in any art store. Otherwise, you are doing a great job. I am impressed!

I have had quite a few redo's . Things I haven't been able to fix I will make sure I don't do again on my next buildagree 100% about having to redo. I am on my 6th ship and I have yet to go through a build without what I call mistakes.
Good evening Greg. That is exactly how we learn in this hobby- it’s not easy and never stop learning. My problem is there are times when I make the same error the second time around as well . Cheers GrantI have had quite a few redo's . Things I haven't been able to fix I will make sure I don't do again on my next build
Thankyou very muchA beautiful ship! Great work!
Thankyou very muchHUGE congratulations, GregW!
Good evening Greg. Way to go- looking grand. Cheers GrantIt's taken a while, but all the sails and rigging on the Soleil is completed.
Overall considering it's my first ship I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out. Was a pretty steep learning curve.
I'd give myself 6/10 so plenty of room for improvement on my next ship. Next time I'll get better quality ropes. Those supplied with the kit are pretty ordinary.
Next up all the cannons. View attachment 448007View attachment 448008View attachment 448009View attachment 448010View attachment 448011

Greg,Thank you very much Grant
It's interesting that you mentioned the time-consuming process. I have been working on the Heller version since 1976 when I received the kit as a Christmas gift from my parents. Granted, I served in the Navy for 24 years and travelled from the East Coast to Italy to Pearl Harbor. to Groton (CT) to Bangor (WA) back to Groton, back to Hawaii, then to San Francisco, then back to Groton, then to San Diego, finally, back to Groton. Work progressed very slowly with the constant travel and its associated packing and unpacking. But I have made slow but sure progress. I have retired and have made further progress. Le Soleil is now a work in progress. Thanks very much Bill . Still making all the gun port hatches for Soleil at the moment. A very time consuming job
You have certainly done a lot of travelling ! O may be wishing my life away but am looking forward to retirement so I can spend more time building ships. It's interesting that you mentioned the time-consuming process.
