Soleil Royal ZHL kit 1:90 Scale [COMPLETED BUILD]

Hi Terry short answer is Yes. Even at 1:90 scale the model is large and heavy, about 40 in. long and around 15 lbs. It was about $90 to Ohio. Shipping time was 9 days from the day I ordered. I was very pleased with the quality of the materials in the the kit. I will build another Chinese kit again and order from ZHL.
The instructions were ok, a little confusing in the order they are presented. There was no problem identifying each part and were it should be located but like other kits you need to look ahead on how you proceed. The kit went together with minimal adjustments. If you study the instructions you’ll find everything you need.
If you have built a kit or two you will do fine building this model.
My kit came with paper stapled together with the parts list and building steps and a CD with english instructions more of a photo of steps with a brief explanation. Between the two it gets you through the build.

It is one of the few models from Kits, whey has nearly a 100 % perfect first planking. both from bottom-up and from upwards -just below the main deck- and downwards. PERSONALLY I not like this precut gunports. in many cases, they do not fit correctly, so gun pipes may go to the moon or down to NEPTUN, APART FROM THEY HAVE THE SAME SEIZE, BUT GUN PIBES change in seize from the lower deck and upwards if you insert a lover deck, but it is mainly seen at the quarter deck and forecastle, as the rest is mainly dummy guns

Thanks El Capi. The precut gunports were a pain to fit. They are nice in that it saves time but there is very little you can do for adjustment As you said. Thanks for visiting my build log.

Well all the masts have been raised, the first phase of the build is pretty much complete now on to rigging.
The wooldings turned out pretty good, i wrapped them the way Vince P showed in his Sovereign of the seas build log. He had a nice drawing showing how he did them. I taped down one end of the line then made a loop. Next make your wrapping running the line through the loop when you have the woolding the size you want. Hold the running end of the line and pull the taped end tight, your done.

The rope with kit is ok but seems very shinny, the blocks I don’t like so I ordered some blocks, they should be here by the end of the week.
My birthday gift from the wife finally arrived! A Domanoff VR 3.1 rope making machine. It is a nice little machine. I can only make about a 6 ft piece of rope due to height restrictions. There is a little learning curve but after a few attempts the rope is turning out quite nice. The demonstration online explained the process.
who needs language when you have pictures I’m very happy with it.
I made a simple jig th hold it to the top of a door with hooks works well.
Now time to start rigging stay tuned.

noone sent me his correct email address.went to ebay but there are so many ripped of kits.saw one that i was going to buy,but they had no english instructions with them.only a cd. i wish i could find a kit for thi model that just came with easy to follow instructions page by page with directions to show to do the steps. hope you can help me. thanks terry
