Steam pinnace Janet

Hello All
I had a very demanding work period so I had to let janet on hold a bit
I did little things , , begined the capstan , and sanded the top of the chimney
After will have to do a little putty and fine sanding and after paint.
Still no high temperatures in my part of the world to do the z-poxy coat ( i have to do that in the apartament flat stairs where can smell a bit before to get in the house .
Glad , my neighbors are not very affected to my hobby and I have their understanding.Help a bit to clean after hobby sanding session!
Daniel

Hello All
Took a long time to post ,work getting the most of my day ,and I have to confess I am not very pleased with my idea to put resin on the superstructure.
The end result is a a so and so model , will be good for going to the pond and water resistant but just that
I tinkered with the some bling to add to the ship and made a ship wistle but it will be another version soon.
This is how my model look

Great looking model. Will be nice to see photos of her cruising on a pond. I have always found that the best treatment for finishing mahogany on this type of vessel is several coats of good quality marine varnish with light sanding between each coat. Just like on the prototype boats, you can't get a better high gloss weather resistant finish.

Dear forum colleagues, seeing your work and the excellent images of some models crafted to perfection, I realize that the lack of experience and especially the lack of a workshop will produce mediocre results in comparison.
Since I work in the living room, everything that involves painting the model with multiple layers, not having dust in the air, and being able to leave the model along with the tools in the same place for a longer period of time are dreams for me.
Kind regards , Daniel

Hello All
Just went to the pond and made some discoveries :
I need a larger prop or more rpm motor
The rudder servo is very small for the model so I will need a bigger one or get more movement of the rudder
The children on the site were very impressed!
Kind regards, Daniel

Hi Daniel, great job for your first sea trial. If you have added ballast you did a good job, as she sits exactly where she should. My first suggestion is make sure your transmitter is at 100 percent throw left and right control on your rudder servo. If that is already set then adjust your rudder servo arm and linkage to give you more port and starboard throw. From what I can see your rudder appears to be an appropriate size, just needs more throw. Second, as you've already mentioned, you definitely need more thrust. I would suggest that it needs to come from more revolutions on the motor as I can't really see the prop you are using. If the prop is too big it will slow down the RPM and over heat the motor. If it's too small there could be a lot of cavitation with very little thrust. It is a beautiful model and I know you can easily overcome the control issues.

Hello Jim
Thank you for the message !
I am searching for a motor with more than 400 rpm if I have to keep the propeller and I have a bigger propeller that have to be balanced because one pale is hitting the paint and 2 are not .
With the rudder is a little more trouble because I had to put the servo in a cramped space and I have no acces to it now .Maibe a new servo and transmission with cable?
Well see
Daniel
