Hello
I'm scratch building HMS Victory. Can any body give me advice on how to find the correct shape of the stern. I've made filler blocks from basswood cut and sanded them and on one side I think its right, but I don't know if its the right shape that's needed or just a pleasing shape that will result in a nice bend. I.ve looked through the forums and downloaded lots of builds to help but now I'm just getting confused and would very much appreciate any guidance.

Kind regards
Paul

Hallo Paul,
The stern of the original Victory was revised during the main repair between 1800 and 1803.
Do you work on the original Victory before the repair or the "Trafalgar" version?
And based on which planset you are working in general?
I have several books about the Victory also with plans (partly shown also in our book review area, so maybe I can help here.......

Hello Uwe
I think I might not have explained what I actually meant (English was never my best subject at school). I'm not trying to end up with any particular version of the Victory stern. I'm working on the Mantua/ sergal plans at 78 scale and never did like the stern and galleries as they did them so I'm using the stern and galleries from the Caldercraft version, its the filler blocks that I've put in between the last 2 bulkheads to help with planking that's giving me the trouble. I had trouble trying to get the right shape but since then I have done 1 side to what I think and I'm going to match the other side to it I was really wondering if there was a better way to get the shape to what it should be rather than doing what I think. I should have put a couple of pictures that would probably have described better what I wanted so I'll do that now.

I'm afraid if I look into and do any more research I'll end up changing my mind again but I will look into the book review as I didn't think of that and very much appreciate your input.

Kind regards
Paul.
