The Donald David, a Maine Lobster Boat, launched 1956

Is Titebond 3 a suitable glue for gluing components of my lobster boat project? I'm uncertain about glue usage various parts of the Donald David.
Any help is appreciated.
Happy modeling.

Thanks, Stephen. My thoughts are to use it for gluing wood to wood in my lobster boat build. I know it probably takes longer to set, but I have a large jug of it and I have glued a lot of wooden things with it, but those things are not likely to swim in water.

I've used Titebond II Premium on all my builds. My only use of Titebond III was on the strakes of my Spanish Galleon build. I found that when wetting the strakes. to bend them into shape Titebond II "unglued" at the splice/scarf joint, loosened and came apart because the moisture I applied. Titebond IIII solved that that problem.

Attached are two photos of my latest work on the Donald David; the cabin. I cut pieces of plate glass for the windows and there are there are three simple replicas of instruments on the dash board: a two way radio, a compass and a special instrument that displays the ocean floor and its rocks; very handy when ever he set traps in a shallow area.
Happy modeling.

Just to let everyone know, I am not slacking in the Donald David. I am putting a lot of effort into the cabin & the fore deck. I am trying to create a solid planfor that section so that the forward deck can ban be removed and re-inserted if & when I decide to add radio control and especially to protect the foredeck from harm in future use. I expect to post some new details in the next few weeks.
Happy Modeling

I finally put the roof on the cabin and I added some thin strips to fill the gap between cabin and the walkways. i have started routing wire for each of the five lights in the boat; four of the lights are mandatory on real boats: 1 white lite for stern, 1 red for portside forward hull and 1 green light for starboard side of forward hull and 1 White light on the cabin roof. There will be a white light on the inside of the cabin ceiling, only because that is what Bill West had on the Donald David, it is not "required" on lobster boats. I will be fastening the cabin in place soon.

I have a question about running lights for the Donald David. Working with he led's is ok, but some of he books about running lights show a round white disk for that light. Is that disk an actual, solid lite, or is it a transparent cover for an ordinary LED? Please advise.
Thanks.
Steven

I am looking for sources that sell components for my 1/16th scale model of a Maine lobster boat. My current need is lighting components for the two sidelights and the cabin roof light, in 1/16 scale. I am hoping for 1960 stile components.

Hi Steven,
Sorry I am not much help on this one.
Maybe someone in the 3D printing world will have a solution for you.
Or maybe post a drawing or photo of what you are looking for with some dimensions, it's a bit hard to know what size they are by the description.

Cheers,
Stephen.
