Titanic Lifeboat [COMPLETED BUILD}

I have been building Artesania Latina Titanic Lifeboat 1/35 scale. Neat packing. Very quality laser cut parts.

Kit design is somewhat wrong. There is a gap between formers and sideboards. They don't match.

So I need to fill formers with basswood sticks. First I marked formers height with clear tape.

That gap can be seen in instructions.

I bend a basswood stick around a glass.

I glued sideboards firstly.

Glued curved sticks on formers to fill gap.

Now ready for planking, after making frames at bow and stern.

Secondly; That model need to be planked with 1 mm planks instead of 1,5 mm planks. Shaping 1,5 mm sticks is hard for that scale size.

It is my first wooden model boat and I don't suggest this kit for beginners.

1- Formers need to fill with shaped wooden sticks to fill the gap between formers and sideboards. If you don't fill that gap, then you need to reshape sideboards -sand to form to a crescent shape- but in that case shape of the sideboards will be wrong.

2- It is helpful for learning clinker type of planking, but it is difficult because shaping the 1,5 mm sticks is hard work.

I made a template to cut 1x4 mm sticks for bow and stern frames. These frames must be done before planking. Because sideboards are glued on hull then it will be difficult to cut the frame sticks in exact size.

I made oars. Rudder and rudder stem shaped and rudder painted.

I also made stand. A coat of boiled linseed oil given on sapelli and sides of base painted in brown.
