What thickness for the bolts/brass wire do you use?
I would have thought that 0.5mm would fit. Is that too strong or too thin?

You doing a good job on your Alert. In my build, I use a 4.00mm wire. You may check my build log I have the process described, You may like it.

Yes, I mean 0.40mm definitely not 4.0mm Sorry for confusion. The frame will be 4.00mm thick. 0.4mm wire will be representing the head of the bolt (not the bolt's body). the bolt's head will be only visible.

That black glue really works well to simulate the caulking, it's looking really good.
I also used 0,4mm, but instead of wire used black fishing line, just couldn't get hold of any brass during lock down.

Thank you very much for your encouragement. Due to the varying degrees of cleavage, I have decided to dismantle the Deadwood again. At least, as far as that was possible. A small piece chipped off, but otherwise the operation went quite well.

When I compared the plans and the parts of the kit, I noticed that the scale of 1:48 on the plan and the scale of 1:48 on the parts are different.
Parts and plan do not match. Is this a feature, i.e. intentional, or a mistake @Trident Model ?

The plan is not accurate or to scale. Use it for visual ref only.
I agree with Paul, but those are not typical plans (as drafts), if you look at them closely, it is an isometric perspective. They are only for visiual reference.

This component is easy to generate errors during installation, so templates are provided. Please do not use plan to compare components.

I milled a groove in the keel parts to stabilise it.
You can also see a sample fit at the end, much better than at the beginning.

In the meantime I have finished assembling the deadwood and the keel. Now the spooning has to be worked into both parts.
Everything is sanded down before it is put together.
In the meantime I have got the material for the bolts, now I have to work out the scheme from Goodwin's book.

Very good progress, Emanuel! I like your enhancement engineering for the keel (red circled). This part does suffer from stiffness, Originally it should be 'box' joined.

Hey guys, here are some pictures of the gluing of the keel. At the same time I prepared parts 33 and 34, these will be sanded next. I had already prepared the stern beam. It fits reasonably well.
Und zum Abschluss des Tages noch ein paar Bilder vom fertigen Kiel. Ich habe auch noch eine Passprobe am Liegeplatz gemacht. Gefällt mir sehr gut. In den nächsten Tagen werde ich mich den ersten Spanten widmen, auf den Draht für die Bolzen warten, das Schema für die Verschraubung fertigstellen (würde ich dann euren kritischen Augen präsentieren) und zum Schluss den Kiel reinigen. Dann wird er im Liegeplatz eingebaut.
