USS Constitution 1:70 Scratch

The last few boards remain to complete the hull planking. I'm quite pleased with the result, there is no need for too much sanding. The next phase will be some paint work on the upper hull and copper plating below the waterline.

Hi Mustafa. I'm not sure how I've missed your "Conny" project, but I'm on board now.

As usual, your work is excellent. I echo everyone's statements. Your planking is too good to cover with shiny copper. The symmetry, especially on your transom tuck is so good! It is so difficult to achieve those results, at least for me.

I imagine there are a lot of modelers would not spend the time with ensuring the planking was symmetrical if it was being covered in copper plating. But some of us know that being symmetrical is more than just being about the appearance. It ensures the structure on both sides are the same as well.
I've got your "Conny" bookmarked now. :)

I haven't been around for a while but now I'm back in action. I started copper plating the hull. Even though the nailing pattern is not very accurate historically, I prepare copper plates using my own methods because I like the way they look.

I use self-adhesive foil tape on copper plating
