USS Constitution from Model Shipways

what has been your experience so far of this kit? Mine is that it is very tricky. There is a lot of fabrication work to do and I feel outside my comfort zone. I guess that is how we learn.

I am a glutton for detail (read punishment). This only my second square rigged ship, but it is my second kit bash. The instructions for the Model Shipways kit are minimal and are more of a guide. There is no "Step One, Step Two..." If you have never done this before, either start with a much simpler kit or buy a practicum like Robert Hunt's which I did. But for shear enjoyment for accomplishing some beautiful, there is nothing like it. The kit is loaded with mini models from the cannons to the skylights that will keep the builder occupied for years. I've been building mine now for 7 years and am now just starting the spar deck. Of course, I built the gun deck from scratch which was not part of the kit which added a few years, but that's the fun part of the kit. It allows you to make it as detailed or simple as you like. For me, it's the journey of the build.
