Sewing on the bolt rope, which is actually a cloth-covered length of wire. It helps to form the sail to make it look like the wind is having an effect on it.

I looked at it, but I’m committed to these sails now.

After four days, I’m done with the bolt ropes for 23 sails. Ugh! My fingers are sore.

The owner of this ship would like to contribute to the building of it a little more. Perhaps he can help with the reefers. I found this online at the Connie site: it shows where to place reef points. I might skip a couple of rows

A light pencil mark will guide the Admiral in stitching a line where the reefers go.

Thanks, Roger! Or Roger that, as we said in the Air Force. It took an hour and a half just to put the first jib sail on, along with the hank.

Thanks for looking in, fellahs! I’ve decided to put on reefers after all. Two per sail cloth. I foresee some sore hands. But I’ll only have three lines on the top sails instead of four call me lazy.

Those who call someone "lazy" simply have never tried to do this. sails are hard to make properly. Vfordyce has done an outstanding job! Kudos, Shipmate!

Second jib up! I think I’ll cut the two lines above it and restring them before adding the flying jib.

Well, I did wind up cutting off two stay lines because they became too loose. Now I’m sewing the flying jib on the stay before tying the stay to the ship. It’s easier that way.
