I have a question for those who have done the Soleil Royal, Vic, Big Mike, Paulb and Gilbert. Is there a reason you installed the supports upside down compared to the way it is shown in the instructions?

The way most have installed them.

I did initially install the support the way you show.
However, I changed my mind and have put them the other way around, as shown in the documentation.
I remember that someone told me they were upside down. But I can't really remember who.

Welp, I received the Soleil Royal from ZHL today. It took 8 days from shipping date, pretty good I think. Thought I would go ahead and start a build log and show the packaging. I just ordered a kit from Austrailia. I'm hoping ship time will be 8-10 days.

Thanks Jay, but let me clarify, it's not the Soleil. I ordered the Matthew Turner Brigantine.
I was just concerned with the shipping time from Australia.
I'd love to have experienced builders like you following my build in any case.
Yours looks exquisite, truly museum quality. Very impressive.

Pete, thanks for the kind words. This is only my second build. Never even made models when I was a kid. Sounds like your kit should arrive by Christmas. Seasons greetings to you too.

I installed the top forward deck and added a little weight to make sure it adheres well.



Also continuing to do work on the aft balconies, top gun ports and the framework for the aft flag pole.
