Welp, I received the Soleil Royal from ZHL today. It took 8 days from shipping date, pretty good I think. Thought I would go ahead and start a build log and show the packaging. Still need to do an inventory of the parts. I was supposed to go to Australia and New Zealand for 2 months with my wife for our 50th wedding anniversary but we got word that the trip was canceled due to the virus. I didn’t end up with a tee shirt but I did get this kit. Unfortunately the instructions are on CD and I don’t have a computer so I found someone with a cd rom and took pictures of the screen with my camera and transferred the pictures to my iPad. Didn’t turn out all that great but it is better than nothing and hopefully the other build logs of the Soleil will help. The cd kinda looks like a mini 45 rpm record. Thanks, hopefully I will remember all the mistakes I’ve made on the Black Pearl and won’t make those again. Luckily there are a few people who have or are building the Soleil Royal that I might glean info from. I am checking inventory on it as we speak.
 
Jay, after I finish my Connie, my daughter wants me to build le Soleil Royal for her. I’m getting my feet wet on the Connie. I was halfway done with it when I came across Ships of Scale. So I had a steep learning curve on my own for a while. I will definitely be following your build.

By the time I finish the Black Pearl maybe we’ll both be starting it at the same time.
 
No sir, 20 years of gear grinding was enough for me. I went into appartment maintenence for a few years after, then wound up sick and retired early due to disablities. Now the only time Im on the road is if I fall in the yard, dang kids push me out into traffic :P
 
I did my inventory so I thought I would show some pictures of the Goodies in the kit. I am missing all the 7mm blocks according to the inventory list. BigMike do you remember if they were included in your kit? Anyway here’s some pictures if you are interested. Yes the 7mm blocks were included. They should be in the blue tray, that is most of the blocks in the kit. Contact Max he’ll make it right.
The dark wood part are the triple blocks.
The blocks were really the only thing I I didn’t like and I ordered different ones.
