ZHL San Felipe 1690 - Ted R

I'm not sure on the height of the upper deck at the stern. Parts 11D and 12D are replacements I made as my cute little OCD wife tossed the original parts thinking they were trash. I rand the deck parallel to the one below and used 21mm as a height based on the height shown on detail T14 (see second photo).View attachment 565707View attachment 565708
Ted, wonderful to see you continuing on, even with your situation. Keep up with the PT and get home soon! My prayers are with you. Merry Christmas! Rob

Ted, I'm truly impressed with what you have accomplished given the space restraints you have. I'm so happy that the staff there are supportive of your hobby. Wishing you and your family a joyous holiday season!
Thank you Russ. Merry Christmas to you and all your loved ones.
The excitement generated by this build among the staff is surprising. At least ten of them drop by daily to see what progress has been made. It encourages me to get something done, however small, despite how I feel.

I'm at a nursing home temporarily to regain my strength after these few months of being ill. Today is Thanksgiving and I'm very grateful for improving in my health. I actually feel Good today.
I'm going to have my wife bring me the parts for cannon carriages and a few tools to get started again. It's busy work that needs to be done.
Happy Thanksgiving to all my friends .

Hi Ted

I have just seen this posting. For some reason I stop getting updates of your built. Today I was wondering how your built was going on and found your posting about your health issue. It is amazing what you have accomplished considering your situation. It is an example for many, like me, when I complain about non relevant issues. I will continue following your built. I hope you will feel better.

Cheers
Daniel

Doing better right now. I'm going to physical therapy twice a day to regain my strength

Finally feeling a little better. Started the 11D bulkhead wall. I can't find the same materials I used for the lower wall but at this point I want to get started building again. Bothe walls are tucked deeply into the deck overhangs above so I doubt it will be noticed. Poor lighting has distorted the colors on the photo. It really isn't that bad.IMG20260112074248.jpg

I precut about 2/3 of the upper bulwark posts where they will need to be removed later. The sanding and leveling of that portion of the deck should be easierm
I made fixture to cut the deck planks as my guillotine is to small for the length.
It's crude as all I have to work with is scrap sprues and an xacto saw.IMG20260116105233.jpg

Hey Ted, I completely missed your health took a turn for the worst. I truly hope you'll recover sufficiently to enjoy those holding value to you.
Thoroughly impressed by your perseverance; continue building despite all setbacks.

Thank you, it's been a struggle.

Hi Ted, I am just catching up and I wanted to say that I am sorry you are dealing with health issues. However I think it is fantastic that you are keeping yourself motivated with hobby time verses laying around wasting away watching tv or something. I can see why the staff would be interested and follow your progress. Anytime someone shows the will to accomplish something, it shows your not giving up and actually helps your recovery process. It's when we give up that things go downhill fast. So stay motivated and God bless, I hope you turn things around soon.
All the best!
Dean

Sitting on .my bed in the nursing home working on deck planking. It's coming out a little rarely. The light is poor. My hands are shaking from medications. My lap is my work table and I don't really care. After two months of doing almost nothing on my model I have realistically altered my expectations on what I see as the final result. I just missed the modeling and will continue. Anyway today is happy modeling again.IMG20260125142000.jpg

Ted, that planking is looking very well. Keep doing it and you will see how nice it will end.
Cheers !!

I have basically completed the preliminary deck planking. I wanted to get it in place before placing the deck overhead so I could keep it straight. It may have not been necessary but I don't have enough experience to be sure. The model gets stored on a bed table the facility loaned me. IMG20260203095749.jpgIMG20260203095738.jpg
