The Black Pearl

title.JPG

The Black Pearl was also displayed on the back of the Flying Dutchman.
Both of them are Tamiya History Museum, but for some reason, they had an extraordinary presence.
Now, when I think about it, I think I made such a big work well... It's a strange feeling.
It's a great honor to have my work exhibited at the Tamiya History Museum. Thank you.
Then, when you go to the history museum and look at the left side...
was. The Flying Dutchman was exhibited with a strange aura.
There is a sense of incompatibility with other works...

I know this might be slightly off-topic, and Dave can delete it - I do not mind. But I would like to remind folks about the 27 victory kits out there by more than a dozen manufacturers !!! By this account, it should have been an all-out war on whos on first and what's on second !!! Also the Model Expos USS coney and the Bluejacket Coney - humm both claiming their kit is the best. War on that? Haven't noticed any.

the only wars going on between manufactures is who can deliver the best kit for the best price, i think that is called competition. You succeed by improving your product and not by degrading everyone else. As the saying goes you do not become a giant by cutting everyone else off at the knees. You do not see 27 IP theft lawsuits over a victory kit because that is a waist of time and money. Like playing the whack a mole game you win one and another one pops up. Really if you think about it this IP theft thing got all twisted and blown way out of proportion, it is not as wide spread as the fake rumors lead you to believe.

The photo is a tool for tracing. Carbon paper, grid ruler, scissors, mechanical pencil, iron brush, cutter, triangle ruler, eraser, stainless steel ruler, masking tape, protractor...etc... If you have this, you can trace it.
Let's get started!
First of all, the drawing is traced to China veneer.

So I traced.

Cut out the keel and frame.
I used a band saw and... I used an electric saw.

This is the usual saw.

It is a frame cutout.
Cut the inside first and then the outside.

BP1-72-01-006.jpg

Once all have been cut out, it is a temporary assembly.

It is a photograph taken from another angle.

The last frame of the stern is rounded on the rear side.

BP1-72-01-009.jpg

The last wall of the stern is cut out with a 2mm thick veneer, rounded after being dipped in water.

I have carved a labet on the keel. NOTE: I believe labet is actually "rabbit" or the grove the planking sits in

BP1-72-01-011.jpg

The stern side is up.
Do you know the labette?

BP1-72-01-012.jpg

It is up on the bow side.
Do you know the labette?

BP1-72-01-013.jpg

After finishing the labet carving, I will assemble the frame.

BP1-72-01-014.jpg

Filler is also added to the bow.

BP1-72-01-015.jpg

Assemble the frames and attach them in order.

BP1-72-01-016.jpg

Glue the gun deck with the stairs on the bow side.

BP1-72-01-017.jpg

The gun deck with the central staircase is also glued.

BP1-72-01-018.jpg

Next, I will make the gun port part.

Thats lookin great Dave :)

I had an idea, ( hey even a blind squirrel gets a nut once in a while ) some may know I just got myself a rip off Black Pearl that must be replaced by a better kit asap.
However, since theres no instructions I feel some artistic licence creaping up behind me... What if I changed it around and built MY version of the "Jolly Roger" ?
Twas a ficticious ship anyhow so Im thinking turn a turd into a jem so to speak. I feel an "Aaaarrr" comin on already. What do you guys think?

Indeed they're a reasonably popular seller for us
In my opinion....

The best plastic kit of the Black Pearl currently available is the Zvezda kit.
The best wooden kit of the Black Pearl currently available is the ZHL All Scenario Version
The best prebuild wooden model of the Black Pearl currently available comes from Model Ship Master

Beyond that, one would need to scratch build the Black Pearl to create a better example.
