Wish me luck on the bottom part where I put on the sapelle wood. I'm going to try to taper some planks toward the bow to keep them from warping so much. I hope it turns out okay.Very clean and accurtely done, beautiful to look at.
In each of my models in the past some smaller drops of blood was absorbed by the wood - unfortunately ....First blood in modeling. And it wasn’t even the xacto knife! It was the Fiskars rotary blade!View attachment 262956
Apparently it cuts fingers also, .I just purchased one of these to cut sail material, but it looks like it may have another task as well.
Beech planking on starboard side over half done. View attachment 262505
Only 104!Wow, that is a lot of cannon cutouts, which means a lot of cannons to build!
Uwe, It's always good to add some of your DNA to your work. It makes it personal for all time.In each of my models in the past some smaller drops of blood was absorbed by the wood - unfortunately ....
I actually bought one of those in 2004 and still use to this day! It’s called the Zona razor saw and miter box combo. I threw away the packaging. I picked it up at the local Woodcraft store. They also have online purchasing.

What all do you use yours for, Dean? I was thinking it might be good for angled cuts on masts like on the bowsprit. It looks like it has a 45 and 60/30 degree miter on the box.I actually bought one of those in 2004 and still use to this day!
I use it to make square cuts mostly, and also for angles. But only on masts and thick pieces. Thin boards I use the chopper, which has an adjustable angle to it as well. What all do you use yours for, Dean? I was thinking it might be good for angled cuts on masts like on the bowsprit.
