GOLDEN HIND by Occre [COMPLETED BUILD]

GOLDEN HIND by OcCre - Ocio Creativo. As you can see I'm bit all over the place when building. Got the sail on the judg and coated with water and glue mixture. Then I finished one side of ratlines, then started the other got tired of ratlines so I started on the yard for the lower mainmast sail. Now getting some blocks ready to hang.20220320_214049.jpg20220320_214058.jpg20220320_214116.jpg20220320_214130.jpg20220320_225147.jpg20220320_225157.jpg

Got some good work in today. Finished the lower yard for the mainmast and got the sail attached. Got the sail hung on the mainmast and started some of the rigging on it. Got the backstays for the foremast done and even made some rope coils for the first time.20220321_120531.jpg20220321_120534.jpg20220321_120544.jpg20220321_120550.jpg20220321_123615.jpg20220321_124434.jpg20220321_164331.jpg20220321_235533.jpg20220321_235546.jpg20220321_235550.jpg20220322_014034.jpg20220322_014334.jpg20220322_014338.jpg

Geez Derek. You get more done in a day than I get done in a month... ROTF
I think o was able to be in the studio for a out 7 hrs through the day. It wasnt all at once though. But it helped that I had to stay up late because i flip to nights for work. Also right now I'm at 169 hrs on this build.

Had fun eventful time of passing a kidney stone so I had to call into work but that gave me some time to work on the GOLDEN HIND tonight. Got the sails threaded and put on the mold to let dry over night. Worked on the shroudlines for the mainmast upper section. 20220323_220207.jpg20220323_220210.jpg20220323_220213.jpg20220323_231449.jpg20220324_012848.jpg20220324_012852.jpg20220324_012857.jpg20220324_012917.jpg

Work for a little bit on the GOLDEN HIND before getting ready for work tonight. Got the ratlines done in the top section of mezzin mest. And got the blocks hung and in place and put my rigging on the middle block so its easier to do without the yard in the way. 20220324_142125.jpg20220324_142134.jpg20220324_142121.jpg

Good morning. I echo Paul’s sentiment re your sails. Thumbsup. Just wondering, between work and building your Golden Hind do you find time to sleep? ;)Cheers Grant
Lmao that is a very good question. I think this past morning when I posted that I had worked right at 2hrs on it when I got home at 530ish am and then I was in bed by 8am and back up to get ready for work at 2pm.

I really like your build, but there's something weird about pulleys. I'm no expert but I think they're wrapped too many times. Like I said i'm no expert mayby somebody wiser could eleborate on that

They possibly are. The ones attached to the yard I did 5 wraps and the stabilizer at the end of the yard I think I did 8 maybe 9 wraps only because I did not tie the yarn around the block. As it may not be accurate for the time it has helped me instead of just tieing at square knot.

Got all the rigging finished except for the flags and I'll probably get those done next week. Still have to build the cannon carriages though. Good thing it's only 4 of them. The kit came with metal carriages but have some spare wooden ones that I'll use instead. I'm at 182 hrs so far. 20220331_235431.jpg20220331_235518.jpg20220331_235525.jpg20220331_235535.jpg20220331_235558.jpg20220331_235604.jpg20220331_235719.jpg

After 185hrs & 13m the GOLDEN HIND is complete. This has been a very fun ship to put together. And now she is resting nicely in the shipyard with the others. Looks great, nice work and very fast too.
I see there is space on the shelf for a couple more ships to add.
