MY BLUENOSE- YUANQING SCALE 1:72 SCALE [COMPLETED BUILD]

Hello Johan, I do thank you very much for your suggestions. The more I looked at the Focal area today the more I did not like. So early this evening we sent the YQ-Bluenose to the repair section of our Old Ship Yard and we had this area demolishes, it came apart rather easily. So tomorrow we will begin to re-plank the deck and the inside port bulkhead. I do hope that we can justify this radical move.

And another demolition began...
I think I can agree with your reasoning, though with my current lack of experience I don't dare doing what you just did.
Although, I only have the clamps in, so...
Nah, just kidding, I'm really looking forward to where your current train of thoughts and actions leads you ánd the Bluenose to.

Hello Johan, I thank you for your support, Yes I thought that I could not live with knowing that my Bluenose was not correct. I do hope that I can justify my decision. Now I must re-plank the inside port bulkheads and locate the base on the keel for the Samson pole, lots of great fun.
Regards Lawrence

Well done Lorenzo! If you don't like something and are not convinced ... you have to act quickly and change!
You don't know how many wives I've changed ...
Hello Piero, Thank for your support with with my Bluenose, not such a big deal after all, just getting started was my problem. My Admiral Bernadette have shared over 55 years together now, so I will keep her, she kind of grows on me.
Regards Lawrence

Hi Lawrence. I like it very much you made the decision to rebuild the ForeCastle. I have considered it, but let AL-FI inside.
But when you want your BN correct, there is much to do. Special by the Cabine, watertank etc. I’ll keep on following with great interest.
Regards, Peter

Hello Ship Mates, The little fellows and I have spent the AM planking the inside of the port bulkhead that we tour apart yesterday. With that center deck out of the way there is a lot more room in the focal. Now we can begin to lay out the 8 bunks on this as before we had the four too far aft.

Hello Peter, I do thank you very much for understanding , the Focal is one of the areas that I have thought a lot about these last couple of days. As I want to add Led lighting this area would show up. The water tank is out as the deck is already planked and I do not want to tear it up, had I thought of it sooner I propyl would have added it but not now.
Regards Lawrence

Haha, like by the discussion in Piero’s build-log: the next time by the scratch build from drawings :)

Now you are talking! Once you replace enough, or add enough, you might as well! Then you can choose the scale! Imagine the detail at 1:32 or 1:16 scale! ;)
You lot (Dean, Peter and Lawrence) are worst, now trying to tempt the rookies among us to undertake a perilous scratch-build journey...
My Admiral is still "hinting" at using a saw to cut my beautiful Bluenose in two and now you are pushing to start this international scratch-build Bluenose society (ISBBS). What did I get myself into?

Hello Peter, Yes you hit the nail on the head this time, Yes scratch building from drawings is a very nice way to go. But even there I tend to want to change some things to suit the way that we want our ship to look like. Changing things on a kit can be much harder at times.

Hello Dean, Yes an larger scale at 1:32 or 1: 16 would be very nice to work on, especially the great detail that one could then add, but where would such a large ship live !!!

Hello Johan, Not trying to push you at all, just trying to let you know just what can be done with a little TLC, the choice is yours for sure, You have a lot of great examples to inspire you, especially Peter's cut hull.
Regards Lawrence

1/32 scale would only be about 4-1/2 feet long. That's not too big IMO. ;) But the 1/16 scale would be a museum piece...ha ha!
Hello Dean, 4-1/2feet may not seam very much to you but for a ship this size I would defiantly have to add on another room on our home or move to a new one. This is very scary after living in our home for over 45 years and having to move all of the stuff that we have collected would be a night mare. It would be a joy to be able to build a 1:16 scale ship but I am afraid that it can not happen. Two things first no room to start with and secondly I will not live long enough to finish such a beauty.
Regards Lawrence

I suppose everyone has their own idea of big or too big. I was mainly referring to the fact that some kits are already that size, like the YQ San Felipe at 1:50 scale. ;)

Hello Dean, Thanks for the come back on your YQ - San Felipe she sure is a big ship. I built the AL- HMS Victory at 1:84 making her in that same size range. She sits on a dresser in the back of my Old Ship Yard. I am afraid to build her a display case as it would be to heavy for me to lift, using glass. My Admiral worked in a glass store for years and does not like plastic glass, so that is out. In the mean time she sits up there collecting dust, a bit of a shame.
Regards Lawrence

Hello Ship Mates, Today the little fellows and I cleaned up the bunks, built a Mess table out of Boxwood and trimmed the rail with thin cherry strips. We also gave this new table and the bunk area a coat of Tung Oil, as it soon will not be accessible. Now we will look at the Galley Bulkhead and have another look at the Galley stove as it seams just a little small.
