POF Hayling Hoy 1760 Modelship Dockyard

A cold an rainy day so I made some nice progress. Put in the beams and the hanging knees. View attachment 341705
After this I decided to make the hatch. The beams for this have to be rabbet. Since indent have a milling machine this was a challenge. First I tried to cut I with a sharp blade. As this din’t work out I came up with the idea to simply put to pieces of wood together.

The total height of the hatch is a little to heigh I think but overal I’m happy with the end result. Will do some sanding on the bottem of the hatch to degrease the total height View attachment 341716

Your build is progressing nicely. It makes me think that I need to giver a POF model a go.

I am green with envy on your deck templates, good looking plan, but is the one at stern with wide end protypical?
Kurt, I’m not sure what you mean with protypical? The wide end is because other wise you will get a small sharp end. Should it be done differently?

Hi Arne, your Hayling is looking very good indeed! I am keen on building one myself and was overjoyed to see a recent release being built already!
So, all the best! Enjoy.
I will watch keenly.

Before the planking of the deck I first had to make the windlass. 05DBEBA4-A8D4-4C16-86EA-67EB7E08211C.jpeg
Still have to give it a paint job before I can put it on its place.

After this i started with the deck planking. Next time have to use a different kind of wood. This is soft and gets dirty really fast.

Next will be the planking on the outside so it was time to free her from the jig.
Really nice to see the shape of the hull. The hull need some sanding but is looking pretty nice.

Greetings Arne
I so do like these POF-models.
Yours is coming together really nicely.

Before starting with the sanding and the planking the counter planking has to be done. When I put this in I realized there should also be hole fore the rudder in the deck. Something I will adjust later. F5B88795-3951-4590-9825-C936F9A30B31.jpeg
The wale will be painted black, read some where in a blog they using ecoline for painting the wood. Did a test with this and really liked the result so I already painted the wale planks with black ecoline.

At last I assembled the capstan. Could not find the part for the spindel but I had a piece that fits perfectly. Need to do the sanding of the char and painting.

A small update, it’s been a long time sind my last post. Don’t have had much time to work on the Hayling. Busy at work and other projects in house. Still I made some small progress. Finished the capstan

Also finished the planking of the wales. F9C63CE7-1806-4CB4-8E9E-71BADFE6CEA2.jpegA100B1EC-0BA2-463C-88A2-357EF3368443.jpeg
Next will be the planking of the top rail, started with painting these planks black with ecoline.

Today some time to work on the Hayling. Im not following the manual anymore and use it only as a guide to find the right parts. First I placed the windlass and the top rail on the port side.

After this is I put a vernish layer on the ribs of the port side. The plan is to do complete planking of the starboard side. 68F935F1-E848-45DF-BCEE-F9E52E39D621.jpeg2339A1E6-DAE9-4C85-808A-8F2EFDF766B7.jpeg

Looking good. I have also more or less stopped using the instructions. What product did you use as varnish? I found fitting the supports for the forward windlass a real pain, think they should have gone in before the middle deck.
