POF Hayling Hoy 1760 Modelship Dockyard

First of all thanks for the comments and the likes. It’s nice to have a place to go to if you need some help.
Today I finisht the hawse pieces. Everything is still dry fitted but I think it turned out oke.

Started with the pieces of the stern, little room to work so looks like it’s best to remove the top of the jig.

The stern and I are on non speaking terms at the moment.
Found it difficult to get the correct angles of all the pieces and the correct height.
I din’t like the first attempt and dismantled everything. On the second attempt I took the part that will be used for the windows later in the build to get the correct angles and put in de beams of the deck to get the right level.

It’s not perfect but for now I can live with it.

Next step is putting in the supports. I order the book of David Antscherl to have a extra guide on the build.

Just be aware that the kit is not based on the book

Today received a mail from Victor with some new updates of the manual. With special thanks to Tom the beta tester.
With the update they also added 2 full size drawings. On the 4 side views sheet I was able to measure the hight of the lower beam of the stern. Looks like I have put it on the correct hight. Happy with that.
Also happy with the 2 sheets. It takes the guessing a way.
Great service of Modelship Dockyard

Made some nice progress today. First I placed the keelson. After that started with the beams.
The platforms are ready but still dry fitted.
Placing the deck beams was a bigger challenge, turned out I put the support of the beams in the wrong way. Luckily I used water based glue.

Last week I received the book Hayling Hoy of 1759. It was a bit expensive du to shipping en taxes so beter to use something from it in this build.
After reading the book I really like the complete planking on one side of the ship.
Tonight I studied the plan and ordered wood for the internal planking.

It will be a real challenge to lay the plank as neatly as in the book.

What are you doing about the "burned" edges of many pieces? Are you going to leave them dark or sand them down to bare pear wood? The flats are very easy to sand but the edges, especially the curved edges, would not be easy to sand without changing the shape of the pieces or rounding over the edges.
Hallo @Van
we wish you all the BEST and a HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Are you working already on this kit?

It’s been a while since my last update. Received the wood for the planking of the inside of the hull. First made the limber strake after this it became a real challenge.

It took 2 attempts to come to a acceptable finish. Learned a lot from this and hope that the next time I will do a better job.

Next job is glueing of the top beams and the fitting of the hanging knees

A cold an rainy day so I made some nice progress. Put in the beams and the hanging knees. 22CAA5E6-A111-4E27-938D-0F5946A18FE7.jpeg
After this I decided to make the hatch. The beams for this have to be rabbet. Since indent have a milling machine this was a challenge. First I tried to cut I with a sharp blade. As this din’t work out I came up with the idea to simply put to pieces of wood together.

The total height of the hatch is a little to heigh I think but overal I’m happy with the end result. Will do some sanding on the bottem of the hatch to degrease the total height 76DD1204-A12F-47B8-9A0F-5059E05FFB34.jpeg

Smart idea, Arne, with good looking results as well. Thumbsup
