Yeah… I still use a grinding wheel to sharpen my tools!Good morning Dean. With your skills you don’t need any help from the 20th Century.. Cheers Grant
grant, I like the resultGood morning. Ricochet rabbit at it again.. The off centre deck column for the boom which runs to the transom strut : made per the kit just added some nails. All laminated wood and cast metal parts are painted so went with my brown red and black theme. The large cleat is pear wood from Dry dock as the Kit has horrid metals ones.

I scratch built the quarter deck railing (I thought scratch building was done) but the kit look just didn’t go with the rest of my build. The knees are from the kit. I cut my final left over Victory plank to make the 1mm frame and the 5mm top rail. It is a little rough around the edges even Sanding with 1000 grit didn’t help and I have no More walnut. (Victory was a very old kit and walnut dry).I Found some barrels (I stained them oak) in my supply box and I think they look cool here- just placed on so long- will detail them if I leave them here. Thanks Peter @pter
I did sort of go with his design.

Good evening Peter. Thank you. However…..your Xebec is quality and premium crafting. I aspire to produce the quality you have and love the fact you are ahead of me so I can play copy cat. Thank you for your input and following my humble Xebec. Cheers GrantYou're catching up on me.
I love the quarter deck railing you made....better than mine for sure!![]()
Good evening Peter. Ah yes it is nice to start to fill that “tennis court” as someone (I think Johan @RDN1954 ) once put it. I still need to find a Helicopter for his heliport thoSome nice adding, Grant. The deck starts to live.
Regard, Peter
Ahhhh Peter…now you tell meHi Grant, just checking: did you leave an opening in the front column foot? This is needed for a rope that is attached to the foot of the pedestal.

Thank you Daniel. I was pretty happy with the outcome….sometimes it works out….and sometimes notThis is fantastic precision work Grant, I love it!!
Good evening Jan. Us South Africans always have a couple of barrels of grog. A braai and some “dop” ( your Dutch origins should get that) is a common occurrence down here- tradition in fact.Nice, very nice. Love your scratch building. Handy to have the Grog barrels on deck.
Jan
Good evening Paul. Thanks my friend. At times while creating this Xebec I have considered placing some TNT under her and having some fireworksThat quarter deck railing and facade is the BOMB!
Beautiful work!!Good evening Shota. Thank you. I’m pretty pleased how these came out. Cheers Grant

Ahhhh Peter…now you tell me. Nope I did not and I don’t believe I’m going to be able to make one. There is a tiny gap the kit knees left but all the rope scales on the kit are too small so I don’t know if this is going to be big enough. I will make a plan when I get there tho.
