Good evening. WIP : Some more scratch building. The partner and chocks for main mast and the inner ducks for a chain pump. The kit does not include all these yet from my research a frigate has this. I included some lead lining for the ducts……all WIP.

What a nice update post, Grant. Scratch building parts and a full framed hull with completed deck free of the jig!
Almost to much for one post ……
Regards, Peter

How exciting! Beautiful work, Grant!
Hi Paul. I was curious as to why so many of us shipbuilders got excited when the POF models are removed from the jig. I now know why....it was rather enjoyable. I am very happy how it came together. I have some work to do on a few cant frame joints and obviously plenty of sanding. I also need to come to a decision on how I am going to present her and start planning this.......it will differ from the kit design.
She looks great Grant! Wow, that's a lot of work in 3 short months!

That's only 3 months, WOW!!! Your incredible progress in such short time is amazing!

I particularly love those photos of the deck framing that show the symmetry and precision of your carlings/beams/hatches/knees/etc!

Thanks for sharing!!!

Good morning Russ, Jack and Brad. Thank you. I have been rather zealous with my shipbuilding lately. I have mentioned to guys before that I wake up very early (like 4am - not by choice) and I play with my ship while the rest of my world sleeps. The over zealous part comes when it is 10am and I'm still in the shipyard ROTF . So plenty of hours have been put into her in those short 3 months.

Brad thanks for the comment on the symmetry of the carlings, ledges etc. It is something I paid a lot of attention to as it is my intention to change up the kit and have a more open build and "wiggly" carlings etc wouldn't do. There are some which gave me trouble and the joins are not perfect etc, but you have to look for these vs them jumping out at you.
Incredibly beautiful build!
Beautiful !!!
Fantastic. Absolutely beautiful ! Great skill.
Beautiful work and overall joinery!!
Neil, Jeff, Paul and Rebus. Thank you kindly for your compliments
At last (think of the song)! I know that's a major milestone. Shes beautiful Grant.
Good morning Daniel. Thank you very much. You got me stumped......the song is not coming to mind...

Thanks Peter. True story although the removal from the jig was not meant to be part of the equation. The partners, pump ports were being worked on and I was not getting much satisfaction with my scratch building so I just decided it was time to take here out of the jig. I will spend more time finishing the scratch work and pick this up again....it may be a redo. Nothing is glued here.

Thanks again everyone.
Cheers Grant

(Good morning Daniel. Thank you very much. You got me stumped......the song is not coming to mind.) Just another one of my knuckleheaded post Grant. As you remove the ship from it cribbing you say to yourself "At Last" the way Etta James sings it. Check this out by Etta James.

Now I get it. I didn’t know the original just the one Christina Agruilera sings- got it now. :D :D

You continue to impress in leaps and bounds Grant. The photos really show off your skills and you have proved why POF is a natural next step in ship modelling.
Good afternoon Roger. I don’t know about skills it’s more like stumbling along and getting lucky once in a whileROTF. Thank you tho and I always appreciate your encouragement. Cheers Grant

Hi Grant. All I can do is add my voice to all the praise. Excellent work on that hull. And you tell us you were worried that you couldn't do it. I think you sold yourself a bit short. It looks great, well done

Good evening Keith. Thank you very much indeed. It is still early days and this venture could end up going south faster “than a home sick mole” ;). So far so good though. Cheers Grant

Wow, Grant, your hull framing is fantastic! Seeing modelers scratch build elements of the kit that don't meet their standard excites me for some reason, especially when they are so well done!
Good evening Ken. Thank kindly. I am learning about the actual ship building processes so my limited scratch builds will be included here and there. Cheers Grant
