Yes a lot of work and more to come. It is a somewhat simplified pattern of Otte Blom. He drew below the wales even 5 nails per crossing of each plank with each frame. But chaos would probably have been historically correct. But then my planking should also have been more chaotic like the Vasa.A lot of work. But no "chaos" pattern?
Muchas gracias @Haselhoof por tus amables palabras.Estás haciendo una verdadera obra de arte. Mis felicitaciones por el trabajo bien hecho.
Thank you Christian. Almost a pity i have to give him a haircut.I agree with Günther. Your hedgehog is looking really nice.
A steady pace of nailing, Herman.Thank you Vic.
I hope so, with the portside under the wales completed they certainly look impressive.

You have a trained eye Maarten. And now i see a mistake I have made; a mistake you can only make when you are not building POF. I could of course add extra treenails to emphasize where all parts of the frames form an almost solid wall -and I will-, but i have already inserted nails where -as per the drawings of Blom- they should not be. Of course those drawings are not sacred; even he himself mentioned that the frames would not have been as regular as he had drawn them. Yes, I am now looking for excusesHi Peter,
Very neat work but be aware frames are not straight lines. I I were you I would add extra treenails were the zitters are positioned. The top where the stekers are the tree nails and nails should be between the lines of the oplangen and liggers.
Thank you my dear friend. It looks great but Maarten just pointed out to me, let's just say, an imperfectionDear Herman
it's looks great my friend
Whew… non of us excluding Maarten even picked this up Herman. Is it worth it to try correct this ? Well if you do you will achieve the “chaos “ nail effectYou have a trained eye Maarten. . Certainly not my first mistake and won't be my last too. Learning all the way.
And then you have the nails that served for the connecting pieces of wood that held the floor timbers together during the first phase of construction. Yes there are more holes in such a Dutchman than in an Emmenthaler cheese.Whew… non of us excluding Maarten even picked this up Herman. Is it worth it to try correct this ? Well if you do you will achieve the “chaos “ nail effect. Cheers Grant
Hi Grant. I will try to correct it as much as possible. I have made a small sketch how it would look like and like the result. Maarten was right and it will be worth the extra effort. It will probably take about 1000 extra nails, each sideWhew… non of us excluding Maarten even picked this up Herman. Is it worth it to try correct this ? Almost looks like a porcupine attacked the hull, with hundreds of quills!Thank you Vic.
