thanks Maarten but I had like 8 days to preplan and study the pdf copies of the books I had so once it got here it was a matter of taking some dimensions off the plans

So today went to dads and on the way dropped plans off for scanning. they did 7 sheets for me while I waited as I need them now, and the other 32 will be ready tomorrow. $117 to scan all 39 sheets in @$3 a sheet for scanning no matter the size then they email them to me as pdfs

So today I overlayed my scanned plan sheet to my drawings and I was off a little bit so tonight I will redo my drawings to match. Then I can start my 3D and wood.

well just have a few more Lines to do.

got some more redrawing finished tonight. it is going slow as I am having to take dimensions off the original plan sheet and transferring them to my cad program as when you bring images into solidworks it pixellates them a little and makes them hard to be super accurate especially when dealing with folded paper which cant scan real straight.

That is why I wished all plan sellers would sell them rolled at least then you wont get near as much paper distortion. like frame parts crossing a fold in the paper . However its going good and they are staying very accurate it will just take a hair longer to get the keel correct as that sets up the rest of the ship. the frames will be easy as I can loft a lot of them so that I am sure to get a nice flow.

Well the rest of my plans are finished so I need to get those as it has the frames and other stuff then I will have everything needed to get going.

The Keel Backbone Bow and Transom will be the first areas I will deal with.

so today was a bust grandkids came to visit and my boy came and said here dad they wanted to visit then said bye ill pick them up later lol that was 2 pm it is 807 pm they just left. now the tedious task of marking out all the stations so that I can notch the keel and keelson accurately.

So I think I may need to start over as things aren't adding up.

I am using Plate 10 which is a cross section to draw up my keel etc. However the dimensions from that one aren't matching sheets showing just the front Parts and just the rear Keel and Keelson parts

I think there is a big difference in the drawings even though done at same scale. I think I will use the part sheets as reference that is why I wanted to draw things before I built it.

Also the known dimensions arent adding up with to what plate 10 is showing, thus I have decided plate 10 was just drawn up for reference and not to be used to take dimensions off.

I did use my drawings to create the false keel and keel in 3D just for fun.

So it didnt take me long to redraw the backbone at least the rough outlines still need to add the breaks for all the pieces. but I am happy now as I drew it from scratch using known dimensions instead of trying to trace the drawings. I think these been printed a while as the drawings are somewhat skewed and distored from humidity and other effects. I can tell from the differences in dimensions from one drawing to another.

So had a slow night at work because of the weather so was able to get something done. I redrew all my keel parts etc so tonight I converted them to 3D. I still have the stern posts, Rising Wood, and the Upper Mid and Lower Aprons to draw and if work is slow tomorrow will try to get to them otherwise it will be sunday on my days off. once I get them and the transoms and the bow woods drawn up I will start Construction as I will have all my Backbones Drawn Up

Thanks I got the stern posts drawn up before I came to work today and after work since Friday for me will draw them up and my 3 days off work on drawing the transoms and fashion pieces

So this 74 has 6 filling transoms then deck transom wing transom and the top cap transom I cant remember the weird name they gave it. BTW all terminology I use here may not fully match with the British we used to. I am using the French term for it. For example the part that connects to tor keel and false keel the Brits call the gripe and the French call it lower stem. Also the hog or rising wood the French call false kelson. so as I go most will know the part, however they may know it by a different name.

Cant see sawdust until the parts are drawn accurately but probably start machining keel parts this weekend , aka my weekend is sun mon Tues, so yea I think I will use cherry for keel parts railings etc and Aspen for frames

So Today was another nightmare at work so wont be working long tonight. However I did get the stern post area done. Just have to bevel the very aft and to add the Rabbet

Nice looking joinery. Are you using a mill to make these pieces?
