Congratulations for this milestone, Paul. Very nice work (as always). And good to see your new related avatar.Hello Friends,
Just over four months ago I began work on the decks of the Saint Philippe. Today, quietly and with little fanfare, that phase of construction came to an end. I not sure what I expected, exactly, but I can say that the results are very satisfying. The opportunity to see the details of the woodwork that went into building this magnificent ship is pretty special.
While this final deck is much simpler than other decks - I still gave it my best effort:

I am always grateful that you would take the time away from your own builds to visit me here. I'll be back after a short break.
Onward!
Thanks for the nice post, Bill. What you don't see are all the strategic and interpretive mistakes I make along the way. Understanding ship's plans is not something I am trained to do so there is a lot of fumbling about before sawdust appears.Hi Paul,
It has been a pleasure to witness your attention throughout this build. I can say that I have never watched a build come so perfectly together.
Bill
Thanks, Jim. I do consider it a milestone of sorts...Congratulations on yet another successful milestone, a truly impressive work, and very well deserved!
Thank you kindly, Miguel. It is my privilege to share my work on this forum and see the inspiring work of so many others (like yourself).Thank you for sharing this journey with us, it has been a pleasure to see.
Miguel.
Thanks, Grant. My mom is putting the finishing touches on a piece of nautical art she made for me - I'll show it here when she is finished. I think often of your mom's gift to you...Brilliant
Thanks, Peter. You have been a supportive friend who provides just the right amount of inspiration to keep me from slacking off.Congratulations for this milestone, Paul. Very nice work (as always). And good to see your new related avatar.
Regards, Peter
Thanks, Adi! We don't get to see your work here as much recently! What have you been up to?Excellent Paul, fantastic work, truly impressive.
Thanks for recognizing the inherent difficulties, Chris. But, as you are well aware, the real challenge awaits.Congrats Paul - you should be proud - your results rank with the best of them ! What you have accomplished with a very difficult subject with a confusing monograph is no small feat.
Chris
By the way, @CLB, I reached out to Rare Woods and they boarded out some swiss pear for me. I ordered more than I suspect I can use in this present lifetime - so if you are in need I'm just up the road. I also chose a few planks of buxus macowanni that I will process into billets this summer. It's not sempervirens but it's close. Just trying to be neighborlyCongrats Paul - you should be proud - your results rank with the best of them ! What you have accomplished with a very difficult subject with a confusing monograph is no small feat.
Chris
